About LifeStep-App

Are you in a mental crisis? You hardly know what to do next? Or are you worried about relatives with suicidal thoughts? Then the LifeStep app was built for you!
The app is your reliable companion to get through crises better. It offers you well-founded help, even if you can't see a way out and are plagued with suicidal thoughts. With LifeStep you can create a personal strategy plan (safety plan), deposit people you trust and draw strength. You are also prepared for absolute emergencies. You will also find some helpful information and tips for action on the subject of the crisis here, both for those affected and for their families.
Crises are part of life and will recur sooner or later. In stressful situations, it is often very difficult to access coping strategies, especially if they have not (yet) been internalized. It is therefore particularly important for the APP to be used effectively to fill the relevant modules (e.g. Safety Plan and Hope Box) with content before the crisis escalates. Coping strategies should be tried out in advance and, if necessary, discussed with someone you trust.
The app contains five different modules, which are quickly selected in the lower bar.

1. Info: important information on the subject of suicidality (e.g. how a crisis can arise, warning signs, options for relatives to take action)
2. Hope Box: creative board for personal sources of strength (photos, videos, relaxation techniques, sayings and much more)
3. Safety plan: personal step-by-step plan with options for action for different phases of the crisis (early warning signs, distraction strategies, safe places, confidants, professional support structures, safe design of the environment)
4. Help addresses: List of professional help facilities (including clinics and advice centers) in Thuringia including map function
5. Emergencies: direct contact with professional support structures for emergencies
In this way, LifeStep becomes your individual toolbox that reliably accompanies you through everyday life, offers you quick advice in difficult phases and gives you strength whenever you need it.

The LifeStep app is based on the latest scientific findings to prevent (especially suicidal) crises. It was created as part of the Network for Suicide Prevention in Thuringia (NeST), which was funded by the Federal Ministry of Health (BMG). The aim is to help people in a mental crisis and to support their relatives.
