Nuclear Submarine Simulator

Command a Los Angeles class attack submarine in the Cold War and hunt Soviet submarines by sound alone.

There is no magic radar here. Your sonar only hears a bearing. You must work out where the enemy is, where it is going and how fast, by maneuvering your own boat - and the enemy is doing exactly the same to you.

LISTEN
• Passive sonar waterfall: every ship and submarine leaves a trace of noise
• Classify contacts from faint sounds: is it a surface ship, a submarine, or a torpedo?
• Your own speed is your own noise: go slow and you hear more, go fast and you are heard

PLOT A FIRING SOLUTION
• Bearings-only target motion analysis: run legs across the target's bearing to find its range
• The solution improves from LOW to MED to HIGH, with an error ellipse on the tactical map
• Use the thermal layer to hide from surface ships' sonar

ATTACK
• Wire-guided torpedoes: steer them after launch, then let the seeker take over
• Fire on a poor solution and the torpedo runs loud and early - the enemy hears it and runs
• Decoys, evasion and counter-attacks: the enemy submarine reacts to your torpedoes and fires back

LEARN FROM EVERY BATTLE
• After each mission, replay the battle with the enemy's true track over your estimate
• See exactly why a torpedo missed and when the enemy found you

MISSIONS
• Training: Shadow in the Barents - a guided mission against a ballistic missile submarine guarded by a frigate and a helicopter
• Duel - a one-on-one hunt against an Akula class attack submarine that is hunting you too
