Quessia: Focus & App Blocker

Most app blockers fail silently. Your phone's battery manager kills the blocking service in the background, or a permission gets quietly revoked. You don't find out until hours later, when the "focused" work or study session you thought you had was actually wide open the whole time.

Quessia checks its own permissions and background service every time you open it, and flags a problem right in the app with a one-tap fix, instead of leaving you to find out the hard way.

BLOCK DISTRACTIONS YOUR WAY

• On a schedule, after a daily time limit, or always on: pick the model that fits each app
• Run timed focus sessions that keep distracting apps blocked for as long as you need to concentrate, at work or studying
• Turn on Strict Mode when you know you'll be tempted to quit early. It closes the easy way out, leaving only a limited number of daily passes (1 to 10 minutes each) as your escape hatch, or none at all on the strictest rule
• Get a live blocking health check on the main screen, so you always know blocking is working, not just installed
• See exactly how much screen time you spend on the apps you're trying to avoid, alongside the time you actually focused
• Track study hours by subject, so you can see where the time actually went

WHY IT'S DIFFERENT

What's rare among app blockers is honesty about failure. Most just go quiet when something breaks. Quessia surfaces it, so a broken block never quietly passes as a working one.

BUILT FOR FOCUS, NOT A SOCIAL FEED

No leaderboards, no friend feed, no streaks to perform for anyone but yourself. Quessia is a tool for blocking apps and tracking your own focus time, whether that is deep work, study, or simply staying off your phone in the evening. Nothing more.

ACCESSIBILITY SERVICE DISCLOSURE

Quessia uses Android's AccessibilityService API to block apps. When you turn on the "Quessia blocking" accessibility service, it detects which app is currently open, so it can show the block screen over apps covered by one of your active rules. It only reads the package name of the app in the foreground. It does not read screen content, text you type, or passwords, and it does not collect, store, or share any of this data. The service is only used for app blocking, and you can turn it off at any time in your phone's Accessibility settings.
