Mynas birds are the best imitators on the planet, rivaling parrots in their ability to talk. These stocky birds are native to Asia, but have spread all over the world as pets. Common enamel is a native of India, eastern and western Pakistan and Burma. It has been introduced to many Pacific lands, including New Zealand, usually to control invertebrate pests. Mynas are large and clear bridges. Glossy black head and shoulder feathers merge into the light brown of the rest of the body and a large patch of white flashes from each wing in flight.
Mynas are stocky brown birds with a shiny black head and shoulders. They are most commonly seen in pairs or in small family groups. The adult primaries are black when fresh but fade to brown. The primaries base is white and all the top and bottom covers are also white. The tail is black when new, all the feathers are whitish in color which wears off during the breeding season.
