The book "Siyar A'lam al-Nubala" by Imam al-Dhahabi is an Islamic biographical encyclopedia in which Imam al-Dhahabi compiled the biographies of the most prominent Islamic figures from the time of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and his noble Companions (may God be pleased with them), then the prominent figures of the Successors (Tabi'in) and the Successors of the Successors (Tabi' al-Tabi'), and those who came after them, including scholars, hadith narrators, worshippers, jurists, princes, ministers, poets, and even famous women in the Muslim community, arranged according to social class.

Thus, the book contains extensive and monumental documentation of exemplary figures and great personalities from among the noble Companions and those who followed them, including caliphs, political leaders, scholars of various religions and schools of thought, and philosophers. The book, in its entirety, is a vast history of the most famous Islamic figures throughout the centuries in which the author lived. It was authored by Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Uthman ibn Qaymaz al-Dhahabi, Shams al-Din Abu Abdullah, who died in 748 AH.
