Scanfold: PDF Scanner & Reader

A PDF scanner and a PDF reader in one app: scan paper to a searchable PDF, open the PDFs other apps send you, search them and copy their text.

SCAN TO A SEARCHABLE PDF
Scanfold recognizes the printed text on your phone (OCR) and saves a PDF with a hidden text layer under each page. Search in Scanfold, or in a PDF reader with search, finds the word on the page where it is printed.
• Scan: the document scanner finds the edges of each page, as many pages as you need.
• Review pages: reorder, remove or add pages.
• Share or Save to…: send the PDF to another app or to a folder you pick.

A LIBRARY YOU CAN SEARCH
Type a word to see the documents and pages that contain it, with the match highlighted on the page. PDFs you add to your documents become searchable on their own, on the phone.

OPEN AND READ PDFS
• Open with Scanfold: open a PDF from your file manager, a download or another app's Share menu, or tap Open PDF in Scanfold.
• Scroll and zoom. A PDF with a password asks for it.
• Search inside it and select and copy text, on Android versions whose PDF viewer supports it, unless the PDF itself doesn't allow copying.
• A PDF with no text, like a scan? A short one becomes selectable on its own while you read; for a longer one, tap Make selectable. Scanfold makes a new copy with a text layer.
• A QR code with a web link shows Open link: tap it to see the full address before it opens in your browser.
• Share it, save it to a folder or add it to your documents.
Scanfold reads a copy of the file and never changes the original.

COPY A PAYMENT CODE IN ONE TAP
On a scanned page or an open PDF, Scanfold finds payment codes in the text, barcodes and QR codes and shows each one as a chip. Tap Copy and paste the code where you need it.
Formats in this version: Brazilian boleto and utility bill (payment line and barcode), Pix QR, EMV payment QR codes, SEPA transfer QR (EPC), Swiss QR-bill and Multibanco references (Portugal).
When a format's check digits add up, the chip says "Checksum matches". That doesn't confirm the payee or the amount: compare the code with the document. Scanfold never copies on its own and never changes a digit. Scanfold doesn't make payments: it copies the code.

ON YOUR PHONE, NO ACCOUNT
Your documents never leave your phone. Scanning, text recognition, reading and code detection happen on the device. No sign-up, no login, and no Scanfold server receives your pages, your PDFs or their text.

NO CAMERA OR STORAGE PERMISSION
The scanner runs inside Google Play services, so Scanfold asks for no camera, storage or media permission. Google Play services may download it once, the first time you scan.

WHAT IS FREE, AND WHAT THE PURCHASE DOES
Everything Scanfold does is free, with no watermark and no usage limit.
Scanfold shows ads, but none before your first scan saved, PDF read or code copied, none while you scan or save a PDF, none over a page you are reading, and none at all around a payment code.
"Remove ads" is an optional one-time purchase that turns ads off in the whole app. There is no subscription. Restore purchase is in Settings for when you reinstall. Or watch one ad in Settings for 24 hours without ads.

GOOD TO KNOW
• Scanfold reads printed text: how much it recognizes depends on the paper, the print and the light.
• Automatic recognition waits while battery saver is on and skips PDFs that have a password or don't allow copying.
• Documents are not in phone backups and don't move to a new phone. Export them before you switch.
• Requires Google Play services.
