Speed Typing Test

Most typing tests on a phone quietly flatter you. Your keyboard finishes words, fixes spelling and takes a swipe as a whole word, so the number at the end is partly its work and not yours.

This one asks your keyboard to stop helping. For the length of the test it requests that autocorrect, word prediction and glide typing are switched off, and mainstream keyboards honour that. The words per minute you see is the speed your fingers actually managed.

TEXT THAT HOLDS STILL

The test text sits on a fixed grid and never reflows. Letters you type past the end of a word are counted and scored, but never drawn, so nothing shifts sideways mid word and you never lose your place. Everything is set in a mono face chosen because it tells capital I from lowercase l, and zero from O.

PICK YOUR TEST

Time. 15, 30, 60 or 120 seconds.
Words. 10, 25, 50 or 100.
Quote. 60 passages, short to long.
Custom. Paste anything you want to practise.
Endless. No clock, no limit, stop when you like.

Add punctuation and numbers to any generated test.

A RESULT WORTH READING

Words per minute, raw speed, accuracy and consistency. A chart of your speed second by second with your mistakes marked along it. A full character breakdown of correct, wrong, extra and missed. And the exact keys you slipped on.

IT LEARNS WHICH KEYS YOU MISS

Every test updates your accuracy for each individual key. Stats draws that as a keyboard heat map, so a couple of seconds of looking tells you what a table never would. Then one tap builds a practice drill out of the letters you actually get wrong, and it keeps changing as you improve.

SEVENTEEN DRILLS

Structured practice from the home row outwards: each hand alone, then both, the top and bottom rows, capitals, the number row, punctuation, and finally real sentences. Each drill scores you out of three stars against its own speed and accuracy target.

YOUR PROGRESS, KEPT

Personal bests for every mode and length. A trend chart across your last 10, 30 or all runs. Lifetime totals for tests, time and words. Full history. And a streak that counts the days you turned up.

MADE TO SUIT YOU

Light, dark, or follow your system.
Three key sounds, or silence, with a preview before you choose.
Caret style, text size, and live speed on or off.
Blind mode, which hides mistakes until the result.
Backspace off, to practise without a safety net.
Expert and Master difficulty, where a mistake ends the run.

QUIET BY DESIGN

No account. No sign up. Nothing to buy.

The only permission it asks for is vibration, and that is only the small buzz on a mistyped key, which you can turn off. There is no internet permission at all, so every test, every score and every key you have ever missed stays on your device and cannot go anywhere else.
