About FilesToNAS: SMB NAS Backup
FilesToNAS is an SMB backup app for Android. It backs up folders from your phone directly to your own NAS or SMB share — a Synology, QNAP, a home server, or any SMB2/3 share on your network. There is no cloud service in between, no account to create, and no data passing through anyone else's servers.
■ HOW IT WORKS
- Pick the folders you want backed up, point the app at your SMB share, and sync. Files go straight from your phone to your NAS over SMB2/3.
- Uploads are written to a temporary file first, then renamed atomically once complete. An interrupted transfer never leaves a half-written file at the destination.
- Backups are additive. New and changed files are uploaded; files already on your NAS are never deleted automatically.
- Sync state is tracked locally on your device, so the app knows what has already been transferred without relying on your NAS clock.
■ FREE
- One backup profile
- Manual sync
■ PRO — one-time purchase, no subscription
- Multiple backup profiles
- Automatic periodic sync over Wi-Fi
- NAS presets for Synology and QNAP
■ PRIVACY
- No ads. No advertising ID. No analytics. No third-party trackers.
- Your SMB credentials are stored locally on your device and used only to connect to the server you specify.
- Note: the SMB connection protects integrity through message signing, but file contents are not encrypted in transit. Use FilesToNAS on a network you trust.

What’s new
Version 1.3.0 · Updated September 26, 2026
New: Backup Health shows when each profile last backed up successfully, and distinguishes a delayed backup, waiting for Wi-Fi, and a real failure. If Android battery settings may be holding backups back, the app can point you to the right screen. More reliable reconnection to your NAS. The interface is now available in Dutch and German. New profiles default to a six-hour interval; existing schedules are unchanged.
