Wiltkey is the chat app for the terminally offline. Built to replicate the natural boundaries of real-world relationships, Wiltkey requires no internet accounts, no phone numbers, no emails, and stores zero metadata on centralized servers.

You swap encryption keys face-to-face over Bluetooth, and your chats naturally wilt unless you meet up to recharge them.

PHYSICAL BLUETOOTH PAIRING
Adding contacts over the internet is impossible. Wiltkey requires a physical proximity handshake to establish a secure, private communication channel. This completely eliminates remote spam, digital harassment, and unsolicited messages from strangers.

THE BYTE BUDGET (WILT)
Every chat channel begins with a shared capacity budget. Sending messages, images, and audio drains this budget. Once it hits zero, the chat "wilts" (locks). To unlock it and keep talking, you must meet up in person and recharge the connection over Bluetooth, keeping your digital social circle anchored in reality.

ZERO-ACCOUNT IDENTITY & END-TO-END ENCRYPTION
Wiltkey generates a local Ed25519 cryptographic keypair directly on your device. There is no central identity registry, no user profiling, and no account database. All message payloads are fully end-to-end encrypted, meaning nobody—not even the relays—can read your conversations.

LOCAL-FIRST SECURITY & STEALTH
- PIN-Derived Encryption: Your local database is encrypted using keys derived from a personal PIN.
- Self-Destruct Wipe: If the incorrect PIN is entered 5 times in a row, Wiltkey immediately deletes the local database and cryptographic keys.
- Local Nuking: Instantly delete individual chat channels or the entire database manually.
- Screenshot Protection: Screenshots are blocked in-app, and media download toggles allow you to choose if photos can be saved to the recipient's device storage.
- Expiration Timers: Set custom timers to delete messages automatically.

DECENTRALIZED & RAM-ONLY RELAYS
Wiltkey routes message traffic through lightweight, open-source forwarding relays. By default, our relays operate purely in-memory (RAM) using Redis. We do not write traffic to disk, nor do we log client IP addresses or access metadata. Because the relay code is open-source, you can compile and host your own private relay.
