About Travel Privacy Guard
Travel Privacy Guard helps you perform a structured privacy check in hotels, rentals, dorm rooms, offices, and other private spaces. Follow a room checklist, review nearby device clues, use a guided dark-room lens sweep, and keep a local record of what you checked.
The app is an inspection assistant, not a safety guarantee. A clean scan does not prove that a room is safe, and no phone app can detect every hidden camera. Offline cameras, cellular devices, isolated networks, concealed wiring, and ordinary electronics can all affect results. Use the findings as reference and follow the recommended manual checks.
What you can do:
3-minute arrival check
Use a short guided flow when you first enter: record the network, inspect the room, test which phone camera can see infrared from a TV remote, and repeat the network scan. The timer is guidance, not a safety deadline.
Guided room checklist
Work through common places where unusual devices or openings may be found. Mark items as checked, suspicious, skipped, or pending, and add your own notes.
Wi-Fi and local network review
View the current Wi-Fi snapshot and run a user-initiated sweep for reachable local devices. Compare the first and latest scan to see what appeared or disappeared. The app also warns when hotel client isolation may be limiting visibility.
Explainable device clues
Network protocol clues appear only for verified ONVIF or RTSP services and always need manual review. Device names, manufacturers, models, and open ports do not identify a camera.
Nearby Bluetooth scan
Review discoverable BLE device names and signal strength, then mark devices as safe or suspicious for your local report.
Dark-room lens sweep
Use the camera preview and flashlight guide to look for unusual bright points or reflections. A TV-remote self-test helps you choose a phone camera that can see some infrared light. You decide when to open the camera and whether to save an evidence frame.
Magnetic field reference
Compare a local baseline with current and peak readings. Magnetic changes can come from many ordinary objects, so readings are presented as supporting information only.
Local safety reports
Save check results, notes, scan clues, and selected evidence photos on your device. Reports can be protected with a PIN and supported Android biometric unlock.
Privacy-first controls
No account is required. Reports and evidence photos are not uploaded to our servers. You can export report data as JSON, preview imports, delete individual reports, or clear all local data. Exported JSON does not include evidence photo files.
Important:
- Do not confront another person or damage property based only on an app result.
- If you find something concerning, avoid touching wiring, leave the private area when appropriate, document what you can safely observe, and contact the property manager or local authorities.
- Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, camera reflections, and magnetic readings are reference tools and may produce incomplete or ordinary results.
