The GhostDiver App needs your help when it comes to verifying the location of lost fishing gear. We receive positions of potential items from a side scan sonar device that maps the seafloor. With your diving support we can find out if these items are ghost nets which can be recovered by trained divers.

HOW THE APP WORKS

Discover potential locations of ghost nets that WWF has identified using sonar.

Use the “favorites” feature to mark these locations for your next dive. Potential locations can be saved to “locations” and dive routes can be planned and exported as .gpx using the route function. The coordinates, calculated depth and sonar image will help you prepare your dive. Dive only according to your skills and use these potential locations only for verification. Recovery of nets should be left to professional divers, who can responsibly dispose lost fishing gear . If you have discovered ghost nets yourself, report them using the “report” function.

In the "Profile" section you will find information about your profile, as well as our mission and the technology we use.
