The Unclassified

The Unclassified is not a government app and does not represent any government entity. It is an independent reference tool built and operated by Business Key Solutions LLC, and it is not affiliated with, endorsed by, authorized by or funded by any government body, political party, campaign or candidate. It cannot register you to vote and it submits nothing on your behalf.

SOURCES OF THE INFORMATION IN THIS APP
This app uses two sources, and no others.

1. Each jurisdiction's own official election authority, meaning its Secretary of State, Board of Elections or Election Commission. Every registration page the app links to, and every registration deadline rule the app applies, comes from that jurisdiction's own official website. All 56 are listed by name, with the exact link used for each, at https://theunclassified.org/sources.html

2. vote.gov, the official voter registration site of the United States government, at https://vote.gov. It is used to confirm that each jurisdiction's registration link above is still the current official destination.

There is no third party data provider, no aggregator and no crowd sourced information. The full source list, including the published rule applied to every state and territory, is at https://theunclassified.org/sources.html

WHAT IT DOES
Your registration deadline is a date. Not a riddle.

Every state writes its deadline differently. Thirty days before Election Day. Postmarked by the twenty ninth day. Received eleven days prior. Nobody does that arithmetic, so a lot of people never get round to registering at all. The Unclassified does the arithmetic for you.

PICK YOUR STATE, GET A REAL DATE
Tap your state or territory and you get the actual calendar date your registration has to be in by, worked out from Election Day using that jurisdiction's own published rule. Online, by mail and in person are listed separately, because they are often different days.

WHEN A DEADLINE FALLS ON A WEEKEND, IT SAYS SO
Election offices and post offices are shut at weekends. If your deadline lands on one, the app gives you the last working day instead, so you are not standing at a locked door.

STRAIGHT TO THE OFFICIAL FORM
Every link opens your state or territory's own official registration page on that government's own website. There is no middleman form. Nothing is collected from you and nothing is submitted on your behalf.

A REMINDER YOU WILL ACTUALLY SEE
Put the deadline in your own calendar in one tap, a week ahead, with the link to your form in the notes.

ALL 56
Fifty states, the District of Columbia, and all five territories: American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.

WHO IT IS FOR
Plenty of people do not fit neatly into either party. Being unclassified is not the same as being uninterested, and it is nothing like sitting out. This is for anyone who wants registering to be simple, whatever box they refuse to tick.

Free. Nonpartisan. No account, no ads, nothing collected about you.

IMPORTANT
The Unclassified is not a government app, is not a government website, and does not represent, and is not authorized by, any government entity. Deadlines are worked out from each jurisdiction's published rule and rules can change, so your own state or territory's official page is always the final word. Every one of those pages is linked in this app and listed at https://theunclassified.org/sources.html
