Temple of 𒀭Inanna's Light

Temple of Inanna's Light
𒂍𒃲 𒄑𒉢𒈾 𒀭𒈹𒆤
To rekindle the light of ancient Uruk in the hearts of all Inanna's people.

The Temple of Inanna's Light is a Reconstructionist-Inspired Revivalist community for worshipers of the Sumerian goddess Inanna / Ishtar — a queer-affirming, trans-affirming Mesopotamian polytheist sanctuary reviving the warmth and comradery of the ancient temple district of Unug (Uruk).

A sanctuary, not a stage.
We are Ishtarites — practitioners of Ishtaritism within the broader revived Mesopotamian polytheist tradition known as Anunna-Umun. Our clergy, led by Entu Siri Ninkurgarra and Entu Meadow, have sworn lifelong vows to serve Inanna and Her people. We draw on Sumero-Akkadian source materials while remaining a living, evolving faith.

Our mission
To serve 𒀭Inanna and Her people — to help every soul who comes to Her find Her, know Her, and forge a lasting personal relationship with Her. To revive the warmth, safety, and comradery of Her ancient temple at Uruk. To be a sanctuary where the marginalized, the seeking, and the devoted may all stand in Her light together.

Our vision
A living temple, faithful to the old ways, alive to the present, kindled for the future — where the Ethos and Mythos of Inanna are preserved uncorrupted, where every seeker can build a real spiritual relationship with the Goddess, and where peace, healing, and hope flourish through revived sacred works.

The Principles of the Ishtarite
🌱 All life is sacred.
💞 All love is love, and all love is sacred.
🛡️ Bodily autonomy is inviolable.
🦋 Gender must be free, and all genders are sacred.
⚖️ Justice must be restorative, not punitive.
🌟 Humility and pride are both vitally necessary.
🪞 Authenticity above all — Inanna is the Prime Trans Woman.
🤝 Integrity, transparency, and service.
❤️ Compassion over performance.

Who we welcome
Everyone who comes through our doors with kindness in their heart. We are explicitly pro-queer, pro-trans, pro-woman. Whether you are new to the Goddess or a lifelong devotee, whether you are deeply learned in Sumerian tradition or just beginning to feel Her call — you are welcome here.

"𒀭Inanna understands your struggle, and She wishes you to find comfort and safety within Her Temple. You are loved, and you are welcome here."
— Entu Siri Ninkurgarra
