About Match2Vote: Voter Guide
Match2Vote (M2V) is a nonpartisan voter guide for the November 3, 2026 general election. Answer a 10-question issues quiz, see how the candidates in covered races on your ballot line up with your answers, mark up a clearly labeled sample ballot, and learn how voting works in your state.
Match2Vote is an independent, nonpartisan voter guide. It is not a government app: it is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting for any government agency, election office, political party, or campaign. You cannot register or cast a vote here. It prepares you to cast a real one, using the official sources listed below.
COVERAGE VARIES BY STATE
Match2Vote covers U.S. Senate, U.S. House, and governor races. The app shows only races our team has researched, and coverage is expanding through Election Day. If a race or state is not covered yet, the app says so plainly instead of showing empty lists or placeholder names. Some covered races list candidate names without scored positions.
OFFICIAL VOTING SOURCES
All voting information in this app (registration, deadlines, voter ID, vote by mail, early voting, and polling place rules) comes from these official sources and no others:
1. Vote.gov, the official U.S. government voting site (U.S. General Services Administration)
https://vote.gov
2. Your state's official election office website. Every state election office is listed in the official USAGov directory:
https://www.usa.gov/state-election-office
Each rule in the app links to your state's election office site and shows the date we last checked it.
CANDIDATE SOURCES
Candidate rosters come from these official sources:
3. Federal Election Commission candidate filings
https://www.fec.gov
4. Your state election office's published candidate list, found through the USAGov directory above.
Candidate positions are not government information: each scored position links inside the app to the specific page that documents it, shown next to the score.
HOW MATCHING WORKS
• Every scored position has a source. Tap any position to open it.
• We do not assign positions based on party. A candidate is scored on an issue only where we have a source documenting a relevant position; otherwise the app shows "Not stated."
• Party affiliation is shown for identification and is never used to calculate a match score.
• Your match percentage counts only the issues where both you and the candidate have a stated position, and the app shows how many issues were compared next to every score.
WHAT YOU CAN DO
• Take the quiz and see ranked matches for the covered races on your ballot.
• Skip the quiz and go straight to marking up your ballot.
• Read candidate profiles: background, priorities, and sourced positions.
• Build and mark up a clearly labeled sample ballot and share it. Every export carries the banner SAMPLE BALLOT: NOT AN OFFICIAL BALLOT. Check your state's rules before bringing notes or a phone into the voting booth.
• Learn how to vote with a plain-language guide based on official state and federal sources.
• Core content stays available offline after the first load; source links and updates need an internet connection.
PRIVACY
No account. No ads. No analytics or tracking SDKs. Your quiz answers and ballot choices stay on your phone. The app downloads public candidate data for the state you choose, and if you tap the button asking us to cover your state, it sends that two-letter state code and nothing else.
