About Mahjong Buddy
Photograph your Hong Kong mahjong hand and see which tiles you are waiting on.
Lay the tiles face-up, take a photo, and Mahjong Buddy reads the hand and lists waiting tiles for a standard Hong Kong shape: four sets plus a pair. If a tile is misread, tap to correct it. Waits update immediately.
What it does
• Reads bamboo, characters, dots, winds, and dragons from a photo
• Shows ready-hand waits (edge, middle, dual, and pair waits)
• Lists every waiting tile when the hand has more than one wait
• Supports open hands with exposed melds (off-camera sets)
• Shows discard options when you hold one tile too many
• Checks a 14-tile hand for already won or not winning
• Lets you edit the hand after the photo
Tips for a clear photo
• One row or a tight grid, faces up
• Even lighting; avoid glare
• Fill the frame; keep extra tiles out of view
Not included yet
• Special hands (thirteen orphans, seven pairs)
• Scoring or minimum fan
• Kong modeling in closed-hand analysis
• Wall or discard tracking
Photos of your tiles are sent only to identify the hand. They are not sold or used for ads.
