About Glean: Offline Expense Tracker

Your bank already tells you every time money leaves your account. Glean listens to those notifications and keeps the ledger for you.

No typing. No sign-up. No bank login. Every correction you make teaches it.

IT ASKS FOR NO INTERNET PERMISSION

Glean does not hold permission to reach the internet. That is not a promise in a store listing - it is a permission Android will not grant it. No account, no bank login, no sync, no server. Your records live in one file on your phone, backed up to a folder you choose.

IT RECORDS WHAT YOUR BANK TELLS YOU

When your bank or wallet sends a transaction alert, Glean reads it on your phone and drafts the entry - merchant, amount, account, and its best guess at the category. Swipe to confirm, tap to fix, discard if it was not a purchase.

Fourteen Malaysian banks and e-wallets are recognised the moment you install. Anywhere else you teach Glean your bank once: open a real alert, tap the amount, tap the merchant, and it reads that format from then on. No template, no regular expression, no internet.

IT LEARNS FROM YOUR CORRECTIONS

Fix a shop once and it arrives correct the next time. The first fuel stop asks a question. The eleventh does not. Same for the words you speak and the accounts you use, all on the phone.

TWELVE CURRENCIES, WRITTEN THE RIGHT WAY

Ringgit, US dollar, euro, pound, yen, Singapore and Australian dollars, rupiah, peso, zloty, baht and dong. Pick yours and Glean writes money the way that currency is written - symbol on the correct side, right decimals, your country's grouping marks. It reads your bank's alerts the same way.

ADD WHAT YOUR BANK CANNOT SEE

Cash lunch, a split bill, a transfer between wallets. Type it with the built-in calculator, or hold the mic and say it in your own words. Every account sits in one place with your net worth on top.

TAX RELIEF, TRACKED ALONG THE WAY

Because the spending is already recorded, Glean totals it against each relief you claim, against the ceiling you set, and shows what is still claimable with the days left in the tax year. You name the items and the ceilings, and they can differ year by year, because tax law does. Malaysian users can load the published Malaysian figures instead of typing them. Export a relief summary or a full statement as CSV or PDF when it is time to file.

WHAT IS INSIDE

- Automatic capture, and a confirm queue you swipe through in seconds
- Teach any bank's alert by tapping the amount and the merchant
- Merchant memory that learns from your corrections, on the device
- Voice and manual entry, with your own spoken shortcuts
- Accounts, transfers, net worth and a solvency view
- Monthly, weekly and yearly views
- Tax relief items and ceilings you configure, per tax year
- Home screen widget, CSV and PDF export, backup to a folder you pick

HONEST LIMITS

- Capture reads what your bank chooses to send. Some banks do not alert every payment, and some send no amount, so it will not catch everything. What it misses goes in with + or your voice.
- The fourteen recognised without setup are Malaysian: Maybank, CIMB, AmBank, Hong Leong, RHB, Public Bank, HSBC, GXBank, Alliance, Bank Islam, Touch 'n Go, Grab, BigPay and ShopeePay. Elsewhere you teach your own, which takes one alert and two taps.
- It does not work out a new notification format on its own.
- If your currency is not one of the twelve, the app still works, but money is not written in your format.
- Relief figures come from your own records against the ceilings you enter. Malaysian figures are bundled; no other country's are, because this app does not ship numbers it has not verified. Verify before you file. Glean does not give tax advice.
- The tax year runs 1 January to 31 December unless your region sets otherwise.
- No bank connection and no cloud backup. Both are deliberate, not missing.
- Dictation uses Android's own speech recognition, which usually sends audio to Google.

Built in Malaysia. Works wherever your bank sends an alert.

What’s new

Version 2.1.3 · Updated October 20, 2026

Setting up is quicker, and the Accounts tab adds up. • First run is one screen: the privacy promise and the capture button together, with the notification notice cut to two sentences and the detail one tap away. • Turn capture on and Glean deals you one labelled sample alert, so you learn the swipe before a real payment arrives. It is never recorded. • Accounts: loan plans are counted in the balance sheet and the debt line, so assets minus what you owe matches your net worth.
