In ancient Iran, Zamyad is one of the goddesses of the earth, who is considered to be the guardian of the earth. It is said that Ashtad (the other goddess of the earth) and zamyad, put dead souls on the scale on Chinud Bridge. Zamyad is one of the co-gods of Amrdad and Amshaspand, who together with Sepandarmaz, they all manage the earth with the help of togather, from the growth of plants and the life of animals to the determination of the affairs and events of every day on the earth. Zamyad is made of two parts Zam and Yad. "Zam" means both the earth and the angel of the earth. The suffix "Yad" means given or created.
