About ReelRules: Fishing Rules

Can you keep it? ReelRules is for anglers around the world: identify your fish, measure it and, where we have the official rule, it tells you whether the size is legal. Official rules today for the United States and Puerto Rico, with more areas on the way. If you fish somewhere else, the scanner, measuring and each fish's profile work the same; under "Is it legal?" we tell you "We don't have the official rule for your area yet". We never show you another country's rule. • IS IT LEGAL?: type the length and we tell you "legal size" or "not legal", with the minimum, maximum or slot. If the species is closed, catch-and-release only, needs a special permit or is prohibited, we tell you that first. • SCANNER: point the camera at the fish, or take or pick a photo, and it suggests the 3 possible species for you to confirm. Everything is analyzed inside your phone: the photo is not stored or sent. It is only a suggestion: it never decides whether a fish is legal. • RULES KEPT UP TO DATE: every day we check the official pages (FWC, NOAA Fisheries, DRNA, TPWD). You see the date of the last check, and if a source changed or did not respond, the rule is flagged so you confirm it on the official website. • Areas with official rules: Florida state waters (FWC), federal Gulf and Atlantic waters (NOAA Fisheries, 50 CFR), Puerto Rico (DRNA and 50 CFR) and Texas (the legal citation with a link to TPWD). • 36 species: snappers, groupers, snook, redfish, mahi-mahi, king mackerel, cobia, tarpon, bonefish, lionfish and more. • Is it safe to eat?: stars based on FDA mercury data, ciguatera warning and USDA nutrition. • Sea and weather: tides from the nearest NOAA station, National Weather Service (US) forecast and alerts, sunrise and sunset. • Basic hunting: seasons and limits in Florida and Puerto Rico; for Texas, the law and a link to TPWD. • My catch: save what you measure (with ReelRules Pro). No photos. • In English and Spanish. Inches or centimeters. When we have no official rule, we do not make one up: we tell you to ask the local authority. SPOTS (Florida): a map of wrecks and artificial reefs with official data from FWC and NOAA Office of Coast Survey, on real seafloor relief or the NOAA nautical chart. Free: approximate positions and the "No fishing here" zones in red (Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary and NOAA protected areas). With ReelRules Pro: name, type, depth, species recorded nearby (GBIF and OBIS) and exact coordinates in degrees-minutes and decimal to copy into your GPS. "My spots": save your places, note what's biting, see them offline and share them with a link that carries no coordinates. For information only: not for navigation. ADVERTISING The app shows ads from local businesses, sold directly. No ad networks and no tracking. REELRULES PRO (optional) Unlimited scans, save your catches to My catch in your account and, in Spots, the details and exact coordinates. Two auto-renewing plans: Monthly, $1.99 per month, or Yearly, $19.99 per year (U.S. prices; in other countries, the price shown by the App Store). With Pro you only see the small ad banner, never full-screen ads. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase, and the subscription renews at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before. Cancel anytime in Settings > your name > Subscriptions. "Is it legal?" and searching a fish by name stay free. Terms of use: https://reelrules.gray-system.info/terminos · Privacy: https://reelrules.gray-system.info/privacidad Terms of Use (EULA): https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/ ReelRules is not the authority. Rules change: always confirm with the official agency before keeping a fish. ReelRules is not affiliated with FWC, NOAA, DRNA or TPWD.

Hunting across the U.S.: the app knows which state you are in (without saving your location) and shows its official seasons: 44 states and territories with dates and, everywhere else, a link to the state agency. New hunting map with official public lands only. «Get license» buttons for fishing and hunting that open each state's official website. Fishing spots on every U.S. coast. And if the rules you chose don't apply where you are, the app tells you.
