About Plitsch

Will it rain soon? Plitsch tells you for the next hour, minute by minute: whether it will rain, when it starts, how heavy it gets and how long it lasts. NOW The answer comes first, in large type: “Yes.”, “No.”, or “Barely.” when only a few drops are expected. Below it you see when, like “In about 25 minutes.”, and a chart of the rain over the hour. Once it’s raining, the screen turns blue. If it’s snow rather than rain, Plitsch asks about snow. WHEN PLITSCH ISN’T SURE If the forecast is too old or data is missing, you’ll see it. How often Plitsch was right in Germany is in Settings. OUTLOOK (SUBSCRIPTION) The next 24 hours with rain, temperature, night and wind, in knots or Beaufort if you prefer, and seven days under Week. In Germany with official DWD warnings and safety advice in English, and a note when thunderstorms are possible. RADAR (SUBSCRIPTION) See how the rain moves around your place: one hour back, up to two ahead. When the estimate is reliable, the radar shows where the rain is heading and how fast. If it’s dry where you are, a button shows the nearest rain. The legend shows how heavy it is, rings show the distance. In Germany the radar comes from the DWD, elsewhere from Foreca, with lightning. PLAN (SUBSCRIPTION) Tell Plitsch when you want to head out and for how long. It checks exactly that time and suggests a dry window if rain gets in the way. Or pick an activity: dog walk, running, bike ride, soccer, tennis, golf, laundry, or one of your own. Save regular plans, like “Bike to work” at 8:00 on weekdays. With a destination, Plitsch checks the route. When a plan is coming up, Now shows it at the top. The Check Plan shortcut also works in automations. ROUTE (SUBSCRIPTION) Choose a start, a destination and whether you’re cycling, walking or running. Plitsch checks the rain along the route and tells you whether you’ll arrive dry or where it starts getting wet. LIVE ACTIVITY (SUBSCRIPTION) If rain is coming within the hour, Plitsch shows a “Rain in … min” countdown on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island when you open it. You can turn it off in Settings. MY PLACES Pin the places you need often and rename them, for example to Home or Work. One tap switches between them. WIDGETS AND SIRI The small and medium Home Screen widgets answer the question without opening the app. Lock Screen widgets come with the subscription. To ask Siri, say “Plitsch, is it raining?” With your iPhone unlocked, you can also ask about a pinned place: “Plitsch, is it raining at home?” And “Plitsch radar” opens the radar. IPHONE DUO Unfolded, Now and Outlook sit side by side, and Route and Plans show the answer next to your inputs. WHERE IT WORKS Germany, with radar from the German Weather Service (DWD), updated every five minutes on a one-kilometer grid. Elsewhere in Europe where rain radar is available, and in the US except Alaska and Hawaii, with data from Foreca. Official warnings and thunderstorm notes are for Germany only. Where no rain radar is available, the app tells you. PRIVACY No account, no ads, no tracking. Plitsch uses your location only for the forecast and the place name. You can search for a place instead of sharing your location. FREE AND SUBSCRIPTION Free: the Now tab with the answer for the next hour and the rain chart, My Places, and the Home Screen widgets. The Plitsch subscription comes yearly or monthly. It adds answers for the next two hours, the full outlook with the week, the rain radar, Plan with Route, plans and the shortcut, the Live Activity, and Lock Screen widgets. Family Sharing is included. You’ll see the price and any offers in the app before you buy. The subscription renews automatically unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period in your Apple Account settings.
