About Uniboard: Unicode Keyboard
English typing and the full Unicode catalog, together. Combine a literal QWERTY keyboard, personal symbol pages and offline character search for iPhone and iPad. YOUR EVERYDAY KEYBOARD Type without autocorrect or word predictions. Use Shift, Caps Lock, accented-letter holds, repeating Backspace and number/symbol pages. Double Space after a word adds a period and space; URL and email fields keep literal input. A fixed number row sits above three letter rows, with taller, matching keycaps. U shows or hides the Unicode toolbar. In app Settings, enable one optional symbol bar or replace it with the search bar. iPad adds stock-style modifiers and compact or full ANSI landscape layouts, with Numbers/Symbols and Hide Keyboard to the right of Space. PERSONAL SYMBOL PAGES The star beside Space opens Favorites by default and returns to QWERTY. Hold it to choose another preferred page or manage your pages. A stock Symbols page is included. Swipe horizontally through every page and Recent. Create, reorder and edit pages in the keyboard; choose a page when saving. Saved and Recent symbols look like ordinary rounded keys, without code-point captions. Hold a key for variants, properties or editing. MAKE EACH CHARACTER KEY YOURS In app Settings, configure Tap, Shifted tap, Hold, Up and Down independently for letters, digits and symbols. Set one tap output or ordered gesture candidates. Preserve combining sequences and emoji; disable or reset actions. Function keys stay standard. By default, swipe up for mapped symbols and macOS Option choices, swipe down for opposite-case letters, and hold for current-case accents. Move up or down while holding to switch groups, then slide sideways to select a candidate. The visible number row leaves Q–P with ten complementary symbols. FIND ANY CHARACTER - Search official names, aliases, descriptions and block names. Try "arrow", "heart" or "Greek". Whole words rank before partial matches. - Look up U+1F680, 0x1F680, 1F680 or decimal:128640. In the app, paste a character to identify it. - Browse Unicode blocks and assigned characters. The default is ascending code points; newest and oldest sorting are also available. - Search "Suzhou numerals" to find characters officially named "Hangzhou numeral". Official names and naming notes remain available. Search has its own cursor and full-height keys. Search and document text stay separate. Return to English while retaining your query and results. Hold or hover over a result to inspect it without inserting. Unsupported glyphs retain readable properties. WHOLE EMOJI AND PROPERTIES Find joined emoji, skin tones, flags and keycaps. Insert or copy complete sequences intact. Read names, age, block, category, script, combining/bidirectional classes, decomposition, numeric/case properties and encodings. Emoji introduction versions differ from component Unicode ages. FOUR OFFLINE EDITIONS Choose only in app Settings: Unicode 18 release by default, previous releases 17 and 16, or Unicode 19 DRAFT. All four character, property and emoji catalogs work offline. Optional fonts default off. Download Noto-first preview packs only in app Settings; they work offline in the app and keyboard without Full Access. Other apps choose their own fonts. Some glyphs remain unsupported. Draft assignments may change. PRIVATE AND OFFLINE No account, ads or analytics. Typing and searches are never sent to a server. Full Access is not required. App settings and Favorites reach the keyboard locally. Optional Full Access lets explicit keyboard Favorites sync back to the app and enables light iPhone haptics. It does not enable network collection. Pages, recents and scratchpad stay on-device. Add Uniboard in iOS Settings > General > Keyboard > Keyboards > Add New Keyboard, then hold the globe to choose it. The interface and Unicode names/descriptions are English. iOS uses its own keyboard in secure and phone fields; some apps disable custom keyboards. Requires iOS 17 or later.
What’s new
Version 1.1 · Updated October 22, 2026
Uniboard 1.1 brings everyday English typing and a more personal Unicode keyboard. - Literal QWERTY with a permanent number row, taller keys, Shift/Caps Lock, accents, symbol layouts and repeating Backspace. - One optional symbol bar or search bar, controlled in app Settings. U shows or hides Unicode controls. The old resize handle and height preview are removed. - Full-height search keys, clear text and precise cursor editing. Both Backspace controls edit the search query while search is focused. Returning to typing preserves the query and results. - Larger, more reliable Save controls in Unicode properties, and fully visible result keycaps without edge fading. - Favorites-first Star switching and horizontally swipeable symbol pages, including every saved page and Recent. Create, rename, reorder and edit pages inside the keyboard. Saved and Recent use matching keycaps without code-point labels. - Independent Tap, Shifted tap, Hold, Up and Down mappings for character keys. Default Up offers symbols, Down changes case, and Hold offers accents. Switch groups and select sideways without lifting; default candidates are unique. - iPad modifier keys and configurable landscape ANSI layouts, with Numbers/Symbols and Hide Keyboard to the right of Space. - Local Favorites sharing between the app and keyboard. Optional Full Access allows keyboard Favorites to sync back and enables light iPhone haptics; typing and searches are never collected. - Optional Noto-first font downloads for historic scripts, symbols and rare Han, measured on iOS 27. A tiny bundled font fixes dotted-circle combining previews. Download only in the app; verified fonts work offline in the keyboard without Full Access. - Unicode 18 release by default, previous releases 17/16 and optional Unicode 19 DRAFT. Edition and optional fonts are set only in the app. - Ascending code points by default, whole-word search priority, block-name search and "Suzhou numerals" aliases. No account, autocorrect or word predictions. All Unicode catalogs and search work offline.
