About Vocab N1–N5 JLPT - Aptenyo

Learn Japanese for the JLPT (Japanese-Language Proficiency Test) N1–N5: vocabulary and kanji, starting from kana. Kana and N5 are free; other levels are a one-time purchase, no subscription. 【Set your exam date, get a daily plan】 Pick the July or December exam. The app works backward: new words first, then the last 30 days are pure review. Tap GO each day and today's cards are ready. 【A study round that leads somewhere】 Tap GO for today's cards. Swipe right for a word you know, or left when you're unsure to see the full card. Short meaning and reading quizzes check what stuck. Miss a word? It returns later, so you get another chance to retrieve it from memory. 【Remember more than a translation】 You've seen that Japanese word before. But can you pronounce it or use it in a sentence? Each card puts the word, an illustration, Japanese audio and an example together. Give yourself several ways to remember it. 【Study the kanji that show up most】 1,968 kanji, with the most frequent marked by a red star. Sort by frequency and start at the top. Each kanji shows on and kun readings, meaning, and real words from the app's vocabulary with kana and audio. Jump from a word card to its kanji and back in one tap. N4–N1 kanji are free to browse. 【Spend time on the words you need】 Pick your JLPT level. Narrow a session to travel, work or another topic, or revisit favorites and mistakes. Search by Japanese, kana, romaji or English meaning when a word slips your mind. 【New to Japanese? Kana is your first step】 Hiragana and katakana are taught in small groups. See a character and choose its sound; then hear the sound and pick the character. Continue into N5 vocabulary when you're ready. 【Put spare moments to work】 Word Carousel rotates through words, readings and examples when the phone is nearby. iPhone Home Screen, Lock Screen and StandBy widgets bring words into view. Prepare images and audio for offline learning; iOS controls when widgets refresh. 【Free and paid access】 • Kana lessons and all N5 vocabulary are free. • N4–N1 has a seven-day free trial. It ends automatically without charging you. • Keep the paid levels with a one-time purchase instead of a subscription. No ads. See the final price in your local App Store. Aptenyo JLPT Vocab focuses on vocabulary, not full reading or listening practice exams. No app can promise you will pass. Build connections between the way a word looks, sounds and works in a sentence—and meet the words you missed again.
