About Bel Masri: Egyptian Arabic

You grew up around Egyptian Arabic. You understand more of it than you can speak. You follow the conversation at the table, you catch the jokes, but when it's your turn to answer, the words stay just out of reach. That gap is what Bel Masri is built for. Bel Masri teaches spoken Egyptian Arabic: the everyday dialect people use in Cairo and Alexandria, at home and in the street. Not the formal Modern Standard Arabic of textbooks and the news. This is the version where you ask "izzayyak?" instead of "kayfa haluk?", and greet people the way your own relatives do. Every word comes with audio, so you learn how it really sounds and then practise saying it back. Lessons are short and built around real moments you'll recognise: meeting people, ordering tea, family, getting around town. As you go, the app brings each word back for review right before you'd forget it, so what you learn moves into long-term memory instead of fading after a week. What's inside: - Spoken Egyptian dialect, taught the way it's really said - Audio on every word, so pronunciation comes from your ear and not from a spelling on the page - Short lessons built around real moments: greetings, tea, family, directions - Review that resurfaces each word right before you'd forget it - Understanding a word and saying it practised separately, because they're two different skills Egyptian Arabic is the dialect of Egypt's films, songs and television, so it's understood across the Arab world. What you build here carries far beyond Egypt. This is for anyone who'd rather speak the everyday, conversational dialect than read formal Arabic. People with Egyptian roots who want to talk with family again. Partners marrying into an Egyptian family. Travellers heading to Egypt. Learners who started Modern Standard Arabic and found it sounded nothing like the people they wanted to talk to. You don't need any Arabic to begin, and you don't need to read the script. Everything is written so you can hear it, say it and understand it from your first lesson. "Bel Masri" means "in Egyptian". Say it the way Egyptians say it.
