About nametree: Baby Name Heritage

Most baby name apps hand you a list of thousands and wish you luck. nametree starts with your family. Type the names you already have: parents, kids, grandparents, anyone who counts. nametree looks at what they share (where they come from, how they sound, the era they belong to) and grows a tree of names that fit alongside them. GROW YOUR TREE • Add two or three family names and get a tree of suggestions in seconds • See why each name fits: shared roots, the same style, the same rhythm • Add your last name to hear how the full name sounds • Refine by girl, boy or both, by style, by first letter or by ending • Prune the branches you don't like and grow more KNOW EVERY NAME • Meaning and origin, in plain words • A popularity curve by decade from United States birth records • Name stories with real history in them, and a new name and a new story every day • Browse by sound, era, vibe and roots when you just want to wander DECIDE TOGETHER • Swipe through the names one at a time: right to keep, left to pass • The more you swipe, the better it gets: the app learns what you keep and what you pass, and says why it picked each name • This or that: two names at a time until your list has a top five, ready to share as a picture • Try a name for a day: it sits on your home screen, and you note how it felt • Invite your partner: you each swipe on your own phone, and you both see the names you both kept • Stay linked after that: when you both keep a name, you both hear about it • Save favorites to My list, with your own notes • Ask your people: send one link, and the people whose opinion you value rate each finalist and say why • See who said what, all in one place • Share your tree or your list from the share sheet MADE FOR REAL LIFE • Works offline, on the train or in the waiting room • No account and no sign-up. We never ask for your email • In English, Spanish and Portuguese, each one written the way it is spoken • Light and dark

Opinions in the app: under every name you can now read what parents and people who carry it think of it, and post your own. A model reads every opinion before it goes up. Report any opinion, block a poster so nothing more from them shows on your device, and remove your own. Rank these six: on the home screen and at the end of your results, put six names in the order you like them, send it, and see how everyone else put them.
