About Buddhism: Daily Dharma

Buddhism: Daily Dharma is a small daily practice grounded in early Buddhist texts. Each day gives you one thing to read, one short sit, one thing to try in real life, and one question to reflect on in the evening. No feed, no account, no chatbot. EACH DAY, FOUR STEPS • Learn (about 2 minutes): a short excerpt from an early Buddhist text, shown unchanged, with a plain-language explanation and a link to the source. • Sit: a silent timer from 1 to 30 minutes with an optional chime, or a text-guided session with cues you can read and then close your eyes. • Live: one concrete action for your day, such as taking one slow breath before replying to a difficult message. • Reflect: one question and an optional private note. Writing is never required. Miss a day? Nothing breaks. There is no streak, no rank, and no guilt. You pick up where you left off. READ THE TEXTS IN FULL The Read tab holds the whole Library, free for everyone: all 120 texts the app draws on, read in full. The complete Dhammapada (26 chapters, 423 verses) and 94 discourses grouped by topic, each with a short original introduction, plus a glossary of 73 terms as the translations use them. FREE, FOR AS LONG AS YOU LIKE • Getting Started: a seven-day introduction • Daily Practice: twenty-eight practices that repeat every 28 days • The whole Library: every bundled text in full, with links to the originals • Silent timer with optional chime • Two guided session templates • Read aloud with your iPhone's built-in voices, for lessons and guided sessions • Journal: always readable, editable, exportable, and deletable • Calendar, days practised, and sitting minutes • Day 1 of each of the eight Plus journeys as a complete preview DAILY DHARMA PLUS (OPTIONAL SUBSCRIPTION) • Eight complete journeys, 104 days in all: The Eightfold Path (21 days), 14 Days of Metta (14), Right Speech in Real Life (14), The Four Noble Truths (10), Working with Difficult Emotions (14), The Body as Home (14), Giving and Gratitude (7), and Change and Letting Go (10) • All twelve guided session templates, each with 3-, 5- and 10-minute pacing • Personal routines: save up to three, assembled from the bundled practice library. Practices repeat over time; no new content is promised. • Weekly reviews with measured facts and fixed reflection prompts Plus is a monthly or annual auto-renewing subscription. Prices are shown in the app. There is no free trial, no coaching, no community, and no new weekly content. When a subscription ends, your progress and every journal entry stay with you. Working with Difficult Emotions and Change and Letting Go are practice, not treatment or grief support. YOUR DATA STAYS ON YOUR IPHONE Journal entries and practice records are stored on your device only. There is no account, no login, no analytics, and no cloud sync. Export as JSON or plain text whenever you like, and delete everything in one step. Purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store; no third-party subscription service is used. Reminders are optional, local, and generic. ABOUT THE TEXTS Excerpts and the Library texts are Bhikkhu Sujato's translations from SuttaCentral, released to the public domain (CC0) and shown unchanged; the 120 source files are pinned to one commit with a checksum for each. The explanations and introductions around them were developed with AI assistance and checked against the linked source texts by a language model, not a human reviewer. The app is not affiliated with the translator, SuttaCentral, or any Buddhist organisation. It is a beginner's companion, not a teacher or a community, and it makes no claims about spiritual attainment or health benefits. Guided sessions are written text with optional device narration, not recordings.
