About WRING: Water Eject & Sound Fix

Muffled sound after a shower, the rain, a pool or a sink? That is water sitting in the speaker grille. WRING pushes it out with a controlled sound cycle in about a minute. WATER EJECT Three modes, each with a low pass for the bottom speaker and a higher one for the top (100–1500 Hz): • Pulse — short low pushes wring the water out. The standard cycle. • Wave — smooth sweeps up and down for water that sits deeper. • Deep — pulses, then waves, then a second pass, for a phone that went all the way under. Choose 30, 60 or 90 seconds and the speaker: top, bottom or both. Still muffled? One tap runs it again. DUST CLEAN Crackle and buzz are usually lint, not water. Three modes shake it loose from the grille: • Shake — a low rumble. The standard cycle. • Buzz — a high buzz for fine dust and lint caught in the mesh. • Sweep — one long sweep from low to high, for a grille that still sounds dull. WHILE IT RUNS The cycle starts on its own once the phone lies face down. Volume goes to 100% for the cycle and your own level comes back afterwards. The phone vibrates with the sound to help loosen water and dust. Both can be turned off in Settings. SPEAKER TEST Hear the top and bottom speakers alone or together, with deep bass that shows rattle and buzz. TONE GENERATOR AND DB METER A pure tone from 20 Hz to 20 kHz: swipe up or down to set it. The dB meter shows the sound level, its average, minimum and maximum, and takes a photo with the reading on it. APPLE WATCH, SIRI AND WIDGET (PRO) Wet hands are the whole point. Start a cycle from your wrist or the widget, or just ask Siri. The Watch can also play the cycle on its own speaker. WHY THERE IS NO ULTRASOUND WRING does not use ultrasound. The cycle uses audible frequencies at normal playback level — the level a song plays at, aimed at moving water. Nothing is overdriven. Keep the phone away from your ear while it runs. FOR BEST RESULTS 1. Wipe the outside dry. 2. Put the phone face down on a flat surface. 3. Start the cycle and let it finish. Run it as soon as you notice the problem. Water left in the mesh dries into mineral deposits that dull the speaker permanently. WHAT IT CANNOT DO WRING clears the grille. It cannot dry water that has already reached the inside of the phone. If your phone was submerged, power it off, let it dry and take it to a repair shop. PRIVACY No account. The microphone is used only by the dB meter, while it measures, and nothing is ever recorded. Ads appear only in the free version. Purchases are processed by Apple; your subscription status is checked by our payment provider with an anonymous ID. Works on iPhone and iPad, with an app for Apple Watch. FREE AND PRO WRING is free to use with ads: 3 water or dust cycles a week (they count together), one more a day for watching an ad, and every other tool. WRING Pro removes the limit and the ads and lets you start cycles from Apple Watch, Siri and the widget. Pro is a weekly or yearly subscription; the weekly plan starts with a 3-day free trial. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. What’s new

Version 1.2.0 · Updated October 17, 2026

WRING 1.2 is a full redesign. • Water Eject has three modes — Pulse, Wave and Deep — and Dust Clean has Shake, Buzz and Sweep. • Choose 30, 60 or 90 seconds and the speaker: top, bottom or both. • One position for every cycle: lay the phone face down and it starts on its own. • The tone generator and the dB meter share the new Sound tab; the speaker test has a tab of its own. • A new, lighter look. Storage cleanup and the phone checks have been removed: WRING now focuses on your speaker.
