About Luach — Jewish Calendar
Luach shows every Jewish holiday from 2020 to 2050, in a calendar built for the way Jewish time actually works. Choose Israel or the Diaspora and the dates change, not just the wording — Pesach runs seven days rather than eight, Shavuot one rather than two, and Chol HaMoed starts a day earlier. Choose Hebrew as the leading calendar and the month and year views are organised by Hebrew months, with the fifteenth written ט״ו rather than 15. WHAT IS IN IT - Major holidays, their eves, and the minor ones - Every public fast, with the postponements when they fall on Shabbat - Rosh Chodesh, Shabbat Mevarchim, and the nine special Shabbatot - The Omer, counted day by day - The weekly Torah portion, with the Israel and Diaspora readings where they differ - Israeli national days, moved as the law moves them - Community observances by tradition — Ashkenazi, Sephardi, Mizrahi, Ethiopian - A short, plain description of each one, in English and Hebrew FOUR WAYS TO LOOK AT IT Upcoming, with a countdown to the next one. A month grid. A whole year at a glance. And a searchable list of everything — search "pesach", "passover" or "פסח" and find the same days. ON YOUR HOME SCREEN Widgets in every size, including the Lock Screen. Ask Siri when the next holiday is. Set one reminder before the holidays you choose. IN YOUR OWN CALENDAR A one-time €1.99 unlock adds the holidays to the calendar you already use — Apple, Google, Outlook, anything that reads a calendar feed — either by subscribing to a feed that stays up to date on its own, or by writing the events straight onto your iPhone. Every event carries its name in both English and Hebrew, is a whole day with no time attached, and is marked free so you never look busy. Everything else is free and always will be. ABOUT THE DATES The Hebrew calendar is computed from its own rules — the molad, the postponement rules, the nineteen-year cycle — rather than looked up in a table, and every date in the supported range is checked against an independent published source for both Israel and the Diaspora before release. PRIVACY Luach collects nothing. There is no account, no analytics, no tracking, and no server of ours for anything to be sent to. Everything is worked out on your iPhone. Practice varies between communities. Luach describes; it does not rule. For anything that matters halachically, ask your own rabbi.
