The screenshots are read on your iPhone and never uploaded. The pass takes the store's colors, and the barcode is drawn the way the real card prints it, so the register reads it the first time. Boarding passes, train and coach tickets and event tickets are recognized on their own, so the route, times, seat, venue and date land in the right fields without you typing them.
