About Beamer Notes

Beamer Notes lets you read Beamer speaker notes on iPad while writing, sketching, and highlighting directly on your slides. Connect an external display to show slides and annotations while keeping your notes private. SLIDES AND SPEAKER NOTES • Open Beamer PDFs with separate slide and notes areas. • Switch between Slide and Notes, Notes Only, and Slide Only layouts. Open standard PDFs and adjust page splitting manually. • Standard PDFs hide the empty notes area and show a next-page preview when space allows. • Work with 16:9, 4:3, and portrait documents, a slide overview, and tabs for multiple decks. ANNOTATIONS AND INDEPENDENT WHITEBOARDS • Use Apple Pencil, highlighters, erasers, the lasso, and ruler, with undo and redo. • Automatically tidy hand-drawn lines, circles, ellipses, and rectangles, with adjustable sensitivity. • Guide attention with a laser dot or trail, and add photos or text. • Create independent multipage whiteboards with white or black pages without changing your original PDF. • Save, switch, rename, and delete whiteboards. Export PDFs to the library or share them with other apps. AUDIENCE DISPLAY AND PRESENTATION CONTROLS • Use a wired external display or an AirPlay Screen Mirroring connection for a separate audience view. • Cast to compatible Chromecast or Google Cast devices while keeping notes and controls on iPad. • Start AirPlay Screen Mirroring from Control Center. Wireless projection requires compatible devices and networking. • Start, pause, reset, and adjust a countdown timer. • Use an iPhone as a remote for a nearby iPad to read notes, turn pages, and control the timer. LIBRARY AND TUTORIALS • Organize PDFs in folders, browse thumbnails, and rename documents from their tabs. • Share PDFs from other apps, then open Beamer Notes to receive them. • Store and sync your PDF library through iCloud Drive. • Choose light or dark appearance and an English or Traditional Chinese interface. • Bundled 16:9 and 4:3 tutorials cover notes setup and XeLaTeX troubleshooting. Updating older tutorials can preserve the originals and their annotations as backups. iPad provides presentation and drawing features; iPhone works as a remote. Ink, added photos and text, and independent whiteboards stay on the device and do not automatically sync through iCloud. Whiteboards saved as PDFs can sync through the PDF library. The free version allows 3 distinct non-tutorial PDFs. Reopening a counted document does not use another credit; tutorials are free. Whiteboards have a separate allowance: 3 creations in total, with up to 2 pages each. Deleting does not restore a use, and PDF credit packs do not increase whiteboard limits. A one-time Full Version purchase removes PDF credit limits and whiteboard count and page limits.

What’s new

Version 1.29 · Updated October 21, 2026

• Added independent multipage whiteboards. Add white or black pages, draw on a larger canvas, and return to your presentation. • Keep multiple whiteboards and switch, rename, or delete them from the saved list. New default names reuse available numbers. • Export whiteboards as PDFs to the app library or send them to other apps with the system share sheet. • Rename whiteboards or PDFs by double-tapping a tab name or long-pressing a tab. PDF filenames update in the library. • The free version allows 3 whiteboard creations in total, with up to 2 pages each. Deleting does not restore a use. The Full Version removes both limits. • Clearer AirPlay instructions include the Screen Mirroring icon and guidance for compatible TVs, Macs, and receivers. • Updated 16:9 and 4:3 tutorials explain optional plain notes and include the XeLaTeX invisible-text workaround and LuaLaTeX recommendation.
