About Sotto Voce: Private Dictation
Your voice, typed. On your phone, and nowhere else. Tap Start on the Sotto Voce keyboard and talk. Your words appear in whatever you were typing — a message, an email, a note, a search box. No switching apps, no copying and pasting. Hears only you Read one sentence when you set it up and Sotto Voce learns your voice. After that it writes down what you say and leaves out the people talking around you: on a train, in an office, at home with the TV on. A keyboard that just works • Speak in any app — it works everywhere the system keyboard does • Full QWERTY with autocorrect and emoji search, for when you'd rather type • Clear wipes the line you misspoke, without stopping • The Dynamic Island shows when the microphone is ready, with a button to turn it off • Recent dictations — the last things you said, if you need them again Why on-device matters Dictation apps usually send your voice to a server. That is a recording of you in someone else's data center, attached to an account. Sotto Voce does the whole thing on the phone in your hand, so there is nothing to leak, subpoena, or sell. Your voice is never uploaded, never stored on a server, and never used to train anything. Requires iPhone with iOS 26. Free and Pro Dictate up to 1,000 words a week for free. Sotto Voce Pro removes the limit: billed monthly, yearly (the first 7 days free), or once for lifetime. Prices are shown in the app before you buy.
