About Bearing - GPS Field Camera
CAPTURE WITHOUT WAITING Take the photo without waiting for a better GPS fix. Bearing selects a location measurement around the recorded capture time and displays its reported accuracy. Each record is labelled Evidence grade (within ±25 m and 15 seconds) or Below grade. Touch and hold the shutter to average readings while standing still. When moving, Bearing can adjust the position to the shutter moment using measured speed and course, with the added uncertainty included. Set the flash to Auto, On or Off. A vibration and VoiceOver confirm each capture’s grade. Where available, records include coordinates, altitude, camera direction and tilt, address, grid codes and sun position. Add project references, operator names, notes and custom fields. Capture time stays with the record on export. Reports explain its timing source and location accuracy.
What’s new
Version 2.3 (14) · Updated October 15, 2026
Sharing a photo others can check is now easier. • Share with a check link. Recipients can open the sealed time, shared location and photo preview in any browser, with no app to install. • Choose what you reveal: exact location, approximate location, town only or no location. Choose whether to include project details and notes. • Short links make sharing easier through messaging apps. Delete a shared link later to stop it opening. • Capture Record PDFs now carry the complete sealed record inside, so recipients can check a single file. You can also lock the PDF with the record code. • Get started with a short welcome and helpful tips as you use the app. • Enjoy clearer capture options, improved large-text layouts and more helpful verification messages. This update also improves the photo details screen and sharing experience. Check links are available for photos sealed with Bearing 2.3 or later. Earlier records can still be shared using a Capture Record PDF.
