About Footy Ready: Training Plan

Footy Ready is a personal off-season, pre-season and in-season training coach for amateur footballers: Aussie rules, rugby league, rugby union and soccer. Where you play sets how much running your plan aims for, and your code picks its pre-season hard sessions: longer efforts for Aussie rules, turns and cuts for soccer, shorter efforts for league and union. League and union also get neck and shoulder strength work where sessions have room. Footy Ready does not coach tackling or contact technique. Most plans you find online are static PDFs written for a 22-year-old with a full gym. Footy Ready is different: it builds your plan around who you actually are, when your season actually starts, and how you actually feel today. BUILT AROUND YOU, NOT A GENERIC SQUAD Tell Footy Ready your code, where you play, your age, your training history, your injury history, your equipment and the days you can actually train, and it builds a program around all of it, not a one-size-fits-all template. Enter your season's round 1 date and it periodises backwards from there and forwards through finals, so the training you're doing in December actually points at the season ahead. A CHECK-IN THAT CHANGES TODAY'S SESSION Every day starts with a 30-second readiness check-in. Depending on how you answer, today's session adjusts: lighter, shorter, or run as planned, and Footy Ready always tells you why, including on the days nothing changes. That "why" is what makes the app worth trusting on the days it does pull something back. EVERY PHASE OF THE YEAR Off-season, pre-season, in-season, finals and the reset after them: six phases, each with its own focus, generated from your actual season dates rather than a generic calendar. Lifting and running sessions adjust to your equipment tier, your available time and your training history, and any exercise you can't safely do because of an injury or your age is never surfaced, on any screen. NO GYM? NO PROBLEM Full programs are available for a garage, a park or a loaded barbell. If your gear is "not much," the running and bodyweight work carries the session. BUILT FOR WHO'S ACTUALLY PLAYING Footy Ready applies conservative, age-appropriate caps automatically for under-18 athletes as they train (and lifts them the moment you turn 18), and biases toward recovery and staying on the field for masters and veteran players. TRY IT ON YOUR OWN SEASON, FREE The full assessment, your complete season outline across all six phases, one real session generated from your own answers and fully playable, and one real readiness check-in applied to it, are free forever. No trial clock, no locked preview: it's your actual Week 1, Day 1, and a real check-in that really changes it. Every session after that one, and every check-in after the first, is part of the subscription, with a free trial and a yearly option built for the September pre-season rush. Your training history is never locked: every session you have logged stays readable whether you're subscribed or not. YOUR TRAINING, YOUR DEVICE, YOUR iCLOUD No account, no sign-in and no server of the developer's. Your assessment, your check-ins and every session you log stay on your device unless you turn on the optional iCloud backup yourself, off by default, which copies them to your own private iCloud so they come back if you lose your phone. Footy Ready never sees your training either way, and there is no analytics or advertising SDK in the app. Footy Ready gives general fitness guidance, not medical advice, and is not physiotherapy or rehabilitation. Anything flagged as sore is worked around, not through; see a health professional for anything more than that. Footy Ready is an independent training app for amateur Aussie rules, rugby league, rugby union and soccer players. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to any league or governing body. What’s new

Version 1.6 · Updated November 2, 2026

Your week can change, week by week. If you train with a club, a card on Today asks each week whether your team is training, and Yes opens the week so you can mark the nights. Change this week on the Season tab sets any day to Train, Team training or Off, and the week is built around what you choose. Your usual week is in Settings. Log the training you do outside the plan. Runs, games, gym sessions, team training and other sport now have a place, from Today or Progress. They show on Progress and on the Season tab. A game, anything hard, or an hour or more eases your session the day after. A session done early lands on the day you did it. Today's check-in shapes it, and the rest of the week moves to keep hard days apart. Forgot to log a session earlier this week? Log it on the Season tab, or from the line on Today, and it goes on the day you did it. Every planned day says what became of it. A session that moved says where it went, one that did not fit says so in grey, and days you take off read Day off. Nothing counts misses and there are no streaks. A week you are following as planned no longer says it was rebuilt. Going away? Add the dates under Settings, Season, Time away, and those days read Away. When you come back, Welcome back asks whether you kept training, and the phase you return to starts its climb again. Morning prompts pause while you are away, and they stop if the app stays closed for two weeks. Change your answers without starting again. Equipment, session length, running, goals and your days now change in Settings, and your history stays. If you have already logged a session this week, the change waits until Monday. You can add an injury there too. Speed in your warm-up. Your lifts can now open with a short speed block: starts and build-ups on Lift A in pre-season, and build-ups from halfway through the off-season and in game weeks with no club training. Every lift warm-up now includes a single-leg reach and a jump and stick. Before club training or a game, Today offers a warm-up to do before you go. Not running yet? Your easy runs start with walk breaks for six weeks. After those six weeks, if you have logged a run, your running base steps up, and Settings shows it on the Running row. Lighter weeks come round on time. Scheduled deload weeks now still arrive when your check-ins stay amber or red week after week, and an in-season or finals deload drops a set from each lift as well as easing the effort. A missed lift in a game week gets one more chance. It moves to a free day at least two days before the game. If no day is left, the week says it did not fit. Short sessions keep the essentials. 30-minute game weeks keep pull and trunk work, and a 30-minute single lift does one heavy set of each movement. When your sessions are full at their length, the Season tab tells you the phase climbs by weight. An easy run held to its time can finish with a few steady minutes. Hamstring and groin work. The Nordic hamstring lower now starts from developing level and builds up over its own sessions, and a Copenhagen hold for the groin sits on a lift in every phase. Logging a session. A half-logged session is kept if you switch apps or the app closes, and reopens where you left it. Set 1's weight carries to the sets you have not typed into, and the swap sheet can keep the exercise already in its slot.
