About Two Wheels Apart
Two Wheels Apart is the map for motorcycle travellers. Find out who is riding near you, where to sleep tonight and which road is worth the detour. Ride your GPX tracks turn by turn, stay with fellow riders for free, and keep going when the signal is gone. Built by a motorcycle mechanic who travels solo, for everyone who rides far from home. Alone, but never lonely. RIDERS NEAR YOU See who is on the road around you, say hello, meet up and ride together. Your position is shown about a kilometre off, never to the metre, and only when you switch sharing on. One tap on the eye takes you off the map again. PLACES WORTH FINDING Wild camps, campsites, water, workshops, viewpoints, hostels, great roads, off road tracks and local secrets, shared by riders who have been there. Add your own spots with photos, save the good ones and see how many riders kept a place. A spot with the owner's own photo is marked as verified. RIDE YOUR TRACKS Import any GPX file: planned routes, recorded rides or sections of long distance trails. Ride along the line with turn by turn directions on screen, pick your direction and where you join, and see every marked place along the way. Switch to another segment by road whenever plans change. PLAN THE BIG TRIP Put tracks, places and the roads between them in order for an expedition, add notes and share the plan with other riders if you like. Record your own rides and share your tracks with the community. NO SIGNAL, NO PROBLEM Download maps and road data for the countries on your route. The map, your spots, riders and hosts of your regions and the way to your track keep working offline. New spots are sent as soon as you are back online. A BED AT A FELLOW RIDER'S Riders can offer other riders a place to sleep, always free. Hosting and stays are for verified profiles only, and the exact location is shared only after a request is accepted. TRAVEL INFORMATION Tap a country on the map for the complete travel and safety advice of the German Federal Foreign Office, with its date and a link to the source. YOUR PRIVACY Your exact position is never shown to anyone. No ads and no third party tracking. Spots, tracks, hosts and profiles can be reported, riders can be blocked, and you can delete your account in the app at any time. GOOD TO KNOW • In English and German. • For riders aged 18 and over. • Directions are shown on screen; there are no spoken announcements. • Keep your eyes on the road and follow traffic rules and local access rules. What’s new
Version 1.4.43 · Updated October 17, 2026
A big update with everything from the last weeks: • Two Wheels Apart now speaks German. On an iPhone set to German the whole app is in German. • Sign in with Google, right next to Sign in with Apple. • Sharper satellite imagery worldwide, with official aerial photos in many European countries. • Search and routes now run on OpenStreetMap. • Navigating a track is cleaner: no more faint line beside the blue one, and the part behind you stays visible when you turn around or switch tracks. • Switch onto a far segment by road and see the way there before you go. Gaps in a track, like ferries, are routed ahead. • More works offline: spots, riders and hosts of your downloaded regions, their photos, and adding new spots, sent as soon as you are back online. • A smooth pin size slider, and pins fade in and out instead of popping. • Country information from the German Federal Foreign Office now shows the complete travel and safety advice with its date and source. • A calmer map: the source credit shows briefly and then makes room. All sources are under About the map. • More privacy: sharing your position in the background starts switched off, elevation data loads through our own server, and deleting your account also ends Sign in with Apple access. • You confirm the terms and that you are at least 18 when you create an account. • Reports are confirmed by email. • Faster photo uploads, longer battery life while recording, and many fixes.
