About MignonSketch: Watercolor Paint

Watercolor that blooms, oil that builds up, pencil that catches the tooth of the paper. Ten kinds of media, from watercolor and oil to pencil and ink, and 28 papers, recreated through physical simulation for iPhone and iPad. Paint soaks into the paper and spreads. Layer a color while wet and the edges bleed together. Once it dries, the color beneath shows through. Every stroke simulates the paint, water and paper on the GPU with Metal. ■ Mixes like real paint Colors mix like real pigments: blue and yellow make green, and overmixing turns muddy. More water loosens the stroke; less leaves brush marks. ■ Bristles that move Some watercolor and oil brushes paint with every bristle moving on its own. Press and the tip spreads; lift and it gathers. Round and flat, in several sizes. ■ Media • Watercolor: blooms, mixing, drying, granulation, lifting • Oil: thickness, impasto, brush marks, scumbling • Pencil: 4B / 2B / HB / F in three sharpenings • Colored pencil: oil and wax leads, with burnishing • Pastel: soft and hard. Lay them flat for wide areas • Crayon: wax that skips as it drags • Ink: ballpoint, felt-tip, fountain pen, G-pen, maru pen, brush pen • Gold and silver leaf: lay size, then the leaf • Airbrush and digital pens ■ Paper changes the line (28 papers) Watercolor paper, Japanese washi, drawing paper, canvas, wood panel and more. Pick any paper color, and adjust tooth, water retention and absorbency. ■ Tilt and the paint runs Wet paint drips the way you tilt the device. Let it dry and it stays. ■ Paint from a reference Pin photos or masterpieces from the library and paint while you look. Masterpieces come with a line-art layer for studies. (The library uses the internet.) ■ Your process becomes a timelapse Every stroke is saved as a 15x video. Set the length, aspect ratio, opening and ending, and export as mp4. ■ Light your painting Hang it as a canvas on the wall, a wood panel, or plain, and place up to 8 lights. Impasto and gold leaf change with the angle of the light. ■ Nothing in the way • One finger draws; two move, zoom and rotate • Long-press to pick a color. Two-finger tap to undo, three to redo • Brush, eraser and smudge • Autosaves when you pause Apple Pencil pressure, tilt and azimuth are supported, with a pressure curve and stabilization. Your palm is ignored while the Pencil hovers. ■ A larger workspace on iPad Color, layer and brush panels sit on both sides of the canvas. Float them or tuck them to the edges. ■ Color and layers • Color wheel, palettes, sliders and HEX input, with color history • Add, duplicate, merge down, reorder and clip layers, with no limit on how many • Layer folders with their own visibility, opacity and blend mode • 20 blend modes • Filters: threshold, line art, hue/saturation/lightness • Transform, flip, and selections by rectangle, ellipse, lasso or brush ■ Inside the media Tune any brush, from water and backruns in watercolor to bristle count in oil, save it as your own, and keep favorites. ■ Take your work anywhere • PNG / JPEG images, mp4 timelapses • .mgn project files. Open on another device and keep painting Screen size, square, large square, UHD or custom up to 8192 px per side, resizable any time. Start from a photo, and sort your work into folders.
