About Timpla: Asian Home Cooking
Most recipe apps hand you a list of steps and wish you luck. Timpla teaches you to taste. Every dish is mapped on the five tastes — salty, heat, sour, umami, sweet — so you can see where a recipe is going before you cook it, and every recipe has a Timpla Check step that tells you exactly what to taste for and how to adjust it. "Timpla" is Tagalog for seasoning something to taste. That is the whole idea. WHAT'S INSIDE 22 dishes, each written and tested to be cooked in a real home kitchen: Filipino classics like adobo, sinigang, kare-kare, sisig, tinola, pancit and lumpia, alongside pad thai, green curry, tom yum, pho, goi cuon, karaage, oyakodon, bulgogi, kimchi jjigae, mapo tofu, rendang, nasi goreng, Hainanese chicken rice and butter chicken. THE FLAVOR COMPASS Every recipe carries a five-taste profile, so you know whether you are making something bright and sour or deep and savory before you start. GUIDED COOK MODE Big, readable type. A timer built into every step that needs one. Quantities scale to your serving count right inside the instructions, so you never do mental math with wet hands. The screen stays awake while you cook. THE TIMPLA DOCTOR Your dish came out too salty. Or flat. Or fishy, or bitter, or too sweet. Tell Timpla what you are cooking and what went wrong, and get the actual technique that fixes it — including why the "potato absorbs salt" trick does not work. COOK WHAT YOU ALREADY HAVE Tap the ingredients in your fridge and Timpla ranks the dishes you can make tonight, showing exactly what is missing from each. SMART GROCERY LIST Add any recipe and Timpla merges the ingredients across every recipe on your list, groups them by aisle, and scales them to the servings you chose. REAL SUBSTITUTIONS No tamarind? No makrut lime leaves? No doubanjiang? Timpla tells you what actually works instead, what gets you close, and what has no real substitute — so you can cook tonight with what your store carries. BUILT TO RESPECT YOU No account. No sign-up. No ads. No tracking, and no analytics of any kind. Timpla works completely offline, and everything you save stays on your device. Nothing you do in this app is sent anywhere, because there is nowhere for it to go. Free, with every feature included.
