DenDen Family Messenger

DenDen is a private messenger for your household. An account needs an invite code. There is no open sign-up and no directory of users, so nobody can find you here by searching. Ask us for a code at [email protected] and we will send you one, free of charge. WHAT IT DOES - Text messages between two people. Every message is encrypted on your iPhone before it leaves the device. There is no unencrypted mode to fall back into, and the server holds no key that opens a message. - Voice calls between two people, encrypted, relayed through the operator's own server so that your iPhone never reveals its IP (Internet Protocol) address to the person you are calling. The relay sees both addresses and the length of the call. - Contacts by friend code. A contact request has to be accepted before anyone can write to you. - A notification that says "New message". That is all it ever says; it never carries content. - Account deletion inside the app: Settings > Delete account. WHAT IT DOES NOT DO, ON PURPOSE - No group chats. Every conversation is exactly two people. - No photos, no videos, no voice notes. Text and voice calls only. - No phone number, no email address, no access to your address book. Identity is an invite plus a username you choose. - Calls do not ring a closed app. If the other person's app is closed or in the background, they receive the ordinary notification and have 60 seconds to tap it. There is no video calling. - One iPhone per person. No iPad, no computer, no second phone. A lost phone loses the history. - No backup of the server. If the operator's database is lost, your messages stay on your iPhone, but every conversation has to be started again on every phone. - No over-the-air code updates. Nobody can silently replace the code on your phone. The cost is that the operator cannot patch it remotely either. - No advertising, no analytics, no tracking. YOUR KEY CARD During setup the app shows a 24-character recovery key once. Write it on paper. It never reaches the server, so the operator cannot recover it for you. WHAT THE OPERATOR CAN AND CANNOT SEE The operator cannot read what you write. The operator can see that your account and another account are connected, and when messages travelled between them.
