About Linguiversal - Open Lingo

Open Lingo teaches a language the way you'd want to learn it: in a careful order, so you can work out each answer from what you already know. COURSES • Japanese (46 modules): hiragana and katakana to kanji, with furigana that fades as you learn • Spanish (38 modules) • Korean (40 modules): Hangul to everyday conversation • French (26 modules) LESSONS YOU CAN REASON THROUGH • Every new word is introduced before you're tested on it • New words are built from words you already know • Glosses show how a sentence is actually built, not just what it means • Dialogue simulations: hold a real conversation, one choice at a time REVIEW THAT STICKS • Flashcards scheduled with FSRS, a modern spaced-repetition algorithm • See your true retention, not just a streak • Review is never locked: no hearts, no energy, no waiting PRACTICE EVERY SKILL • Speaking practice with speech recognition • Audio for lesson sentences and dialogues • Grammar trainers and conjugation drills • Kanji recognition from module 8 • Graded stories in Japanese and Korean STAY ON TRACK • XP, streaks and quests • Friends and leaderboards Built for people who want to actually get good at a language, a few focused minutes a day.

What’s new

Version 1.1 · Updated October 24, 2026

New lesson screens across every course: word cards, listen-and-repeat and speaking redesigned, and dialogues that end with a scenario stamp. Friendlier first lessons in Korean, Spanish and French: you tap and listen before you're asked to speak. After a placement test you land straight in your next lesson, with a one-tap "Too hard? Start a bit earlier". Reset course now resets only that course; your other courses and your streak stay. The card reviewer marks new cards and caps how many new cards you get per day. Faster Home screen, plus fixes for a card-reviewer crash and security updates.
