About BigStepper: Walk to Unlock

Your phone is the reason you're sitting down. BigStepper is the reason you'll get up. Most days don't get stolen in one go. They leak, four minutes here, twenty there, a scroll that was supposed to last a second. By evening you've moved a few hundred steps and lost a few hours, and you can't name a single thing you got from either. BigStepper puts one condition between you and the apps that take the most: move your body first. HOW IT WORKS Choose your step goal. Choose the apps that eat your day. Until you hit that number, they stay shut. No willpower required. No guilt. No lecture. Just a door that opens when you've walked to it. WHY WALKING Walking is the most underrated thing you can do for your mind. It clears the fog. It loosens stuck thoughts. It's where ideas arrive — not at your desk, not in your feed, but somewhere around the fifteenth minute of going nowhere in particular. Your body was built to move and your attention was built to rest. Modern phones break both at once. BigStepper fixes them the same way. WHY IT ACTUALLY WORKS Other blockers ask you to be disciplined. Willpower is unreliable — that's the whole reason you're reading this. BigStepper doesn't rely on it. It replaces a decision with a condition. You don't have to resist Instagram. You just have to walk. And the walk isn't punishment. It's the part of your day you'll be glad you took. WHAT YOU GET • Block any app until your daily step goal is met • Live progress on your Lock Screen and Home Screen — see how close you are every time you pick up your phone • A shield that motivates instead of scolds: "1,800 steps to go" • Streaks that make the good days add up • Runs on Apple's Screen Time framework — nothing leaves your device • Works quietly in the background without draining your battery PRIVACY Your steps stay on your phone. Your app usage stays on your phone. There's no account, no login, and no server holding your habits. We can't see what you block or how far you walked, and we've built it so we never will. THE TRADE Ten thousand steps is about ninety minutes of walking. Most people spend more than that scrolling and remember none of it. Same time. Different day. Set your number. Go outside. The internet will still be there. Terms of use: https://bigstepper.app/terms

What’s new

Version 1.0.1 · Updated September 23, 2026

Big Stepper can only hold an app back if iOS has given it permission to. If that permission was off, the app would still say your apps were locked — while nothing was actually being blocked. That's fixed. Big Stepper now checks before it claims anything, and there's a new Setup check screen that says plainly what's on and what isn't: - Screen Time, step counting and notifications, each with its real state - A fix button for anything that's off - A notice on Today the moment something stops working, instead of silence - It's under Settings -> Setup check whenever you want to look.
