About UNISON Music Journal
Unison is a personal music journal to keep track of the analogue (and digital) records you listen to. Log an album the day you hear it. Give it a rating — half stars, and on every individual track if you want to argue about sequencing. Write a line about it, or a proper review, and decide who gets to read it. Then look back over the year and see what you actually listened to, rather than what an algorithm decided to count. WHAT YOU KEEP • A journal, by date. Re-listens are marked as re-listens. • Ratings on albums and on tracks. • Reviews, from one line to an essay, public or for followers only or for nobody but you. • Want to Listen — named queues for the records you mean to get to. Log one and it clears itself out of them. • Lists you publish, with a note under each record saying why it is there. WHAT YOU SHARE • Pulse, a feed of what the people you follow have been hearing. Like a listen, reply to it, or take the record for yourself. • Lists you build together, which offer the records you and the others already have in common. • Clubs: coming soon — a few people, one record at a time. • Messages, with anyone you both follow. WHAT IT DOES NOT DO Unison does not play music, and it never will. Every record has a Listen button that opens it in whichever service you already pay for — Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, Qobuz, Amazon Music or YouTube Music. Pick your default once and it stays. There is no advertising and no subscription. Nothing here follows you around the internet, and your listening is whatever you told Unison you listened to — never scraped from an account somewhere else. YOURS, AS PUBLIC AS YOU SAY Who can see the records you log and who can see what you wrote about them are two separate settings, because they are two separate questions. Each can be private, limited to followers, or public. A public log with private notes is a normal thing to want, and it works. A CATALOGUE THAT FILLS ITSELF Over 76,000 albums with artwork, 990,000 tracks and 6,400 artists — and if something is missing, searching for it brings the whole discography in, usually in seconds. There is a button under every set of results for whatever the results did not have. Free. iPhone and iPad.
What’s new
Version 1.10 · Updated September 13, 2026
Everything that changed since the version you have. YOUR PICTURE PLAYS THE RECORD Press Listen on a record and your profile photograph turns as that record, giving way to its sleeve every few seconds, for as long as the record lasts. One line under your name says what is on, and tapping the disc opens it. Stop it from the record's page, or turn the whole thing off in Settings. WHAT YOUR PEOPLE HAVE ON A row at the top of Pulse shows who is playing something right now, newest first — the disc opens the record, the name opens the person. It is absent entirely when nobody has anything on, and it never sends you a notification. SENDING A RECORD ASKS WHO FIRST The sheet now opens on your people with a search over them: type a name or a handle, choose as many as you like, and the rest fold away. The line you add comes after them, and what you have typed is kept if you change your mind about who it is for. UNISON OPENS WITHOUT A SIGNAL Launch with no network and you stay signed in, with your name and picture as the app last read them. Discover, Clubs, notifications and favourites say the network is missing instead of spinning for ever, and the next screen you open loads when it comes back — no sign-in, no restart. Signing out or deleting your account also leaves the phone with none of your unpublished writing on it. YOUR NUMBERS AND YOUR PEOPLE · Logged counts every listen now, so playing a record again moves the figure under your name. · See all 7 opens somebody else's favourites in full, the way your own list opens. · A card in People to follow opens that person's profile, and the × dismisses it without taking the app down. · Logging a record with an earlier date puts it in that date's place, and the second listen is the one that reads as a re-listen. SMALLER THINGS · A record by more than one artist shows its whole credit wherever it is named. · Want to Listen opens in about a second; Discover and search answer in a fraction of one. · Your profile card is drawn from pictures at the size the card needs them, so nothing is soft any more. · The Unison mark stands in the bar's left corner, level with the title. · More Spanish where English was left: reporting somebody, text size, the language setting, the activity screens, a journal's title, a sitting with no name, and every shelf on Discover. · The ratings under a record read as whole sentences to VoiceOver. · Discography looks incomplete asks about the songs' lengths too, which is what the record on your profile is timed by.
