Perun Weather

Perun answers not only what the weather will be, but how reliable that answer is right now. SEVERAL MODELS INSTEAD OF ONE OPINION Most apps present a single weather model as the truth. Perun compares four: ICON-D2 and ICON-EU from the German Weather Service, ECMWF and GFS. On top of that comes the DWD radar composite. From this comparison one clear statement emerges – for example: "This evening it will most likely stay dry." THE RELIABILITY VALUE Every statement carries a value between 0 and 100 per cent. It reflects how strongly the sources agree, how consistent they are about timing, whether the radar backs the forecast, how fresh the model runs are and how far ahead the forecast reaches. Every part can be opened up in the app. When the sources contradict each other, Perun says so – instead of feigning certainty. RAIN RADAR WITH THE OFFICIAL NOWCAST Perun downloads the raw RADOLAN data from the German Weather Service and decodes it itself: the past hour of measurements and the official two-hour forecast, in five-minute steps, as an animation. Forecast frames are clearly marked as such. OFFICIAL WARNINGS Weather warnings from DWD, precise for the selected location – with period, description and guidance. Rain radar and official warnings come from the German Weather Service and are therefore limited to Germany and its immediate surroundings. Outside that area, Perun still shows the full model comparison, clothing advice and all metrics. WHAT TO WEAR From apparent temperature, precipitation, wind and UV index Perun derives a concrete suggestion: jacket, umbrella, sturdy shoes or sun protection. METRICS THAT EXPLAIN THEMSELVES Wind, humidity, pressure, UV index, visibility and cloud cover can be tapped. Each metric explains what it means, places the current value with everyday examples – and warns when it gets critical. ENERGY (OPTIONAL) If you want, Perun combines dynamic electricity prices with your tariff, your PV system and your battery. It calculates the real value of a kilowatt-hour – not the market price alone – and recommends when to buy, self-consume, store or feed in.
