About Kuu: Ride Out the Urge
Sit for three minutes, eyes open. Kuu (空, "emptiness") is an app for daily meditation. Watch a bonfire, the aurora, or a tropical beach while breathing in the 4-7-8 rhythm. It still works as a refuge for the moment an urge to scroll hits. ■ Meditate — your daily sit - Choose a length: 3, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30 minutes, or open-ended - Choose what to watch: liquid, aurora, colored flame, bonfire, tropical beach, or Evidence - "Evidence" shows one research finding on meditation and breathing per breath (54 findings, each with its source and PMID) - Each video is three minutes long and loops seamlessly, so 10 or 20 minutes feels continuous - Cues for 4-7-8 breathing (inhale 4, hold 7, exhale 8), or "just sit" with no cues - A bell marks the start and the end. Your minutes and day streak are logged ■ Breathing cues — by sound or by touch - Five sounds: temple bells, singing bowl, ocean waves, bonfire, voice guide - Silent mode: no sound at all — vibration alone tells you when to inhale, hold, and exhale. Works on the train ■ Wave — when an urge hits, come here - Breathing starts the moment you open it - The chemical wave of an urge peaks in about 90 seconds — visualized with a timer - Surfed it or got swept away: log it either way, without blame ■ Gate — put 90 seconds in front of the app you reach for - Stand it in front of Safari, X, Instagram, YouTube, Kindle, or any app you choose - Set up with a single action in a Shortcuts automation - Nothing is forcibly blocked. It only adds a pause ■ Log and wisdom - Meditation streak and total minutes, waves surfed, a two-week chart - "Today's wisdom": 24 cards on emptiness, Yogacara, Zen, Stoicism, neuroscience, and practice - Everything stays on your device. No account, no network, no ads ■ English, Japanese, and Traditional Chinese (switchable in-app) This app is not a medical device and is not intended for diagnosis or treatment.
