About Photographer's Weather

Photographer's Weather shows you at a glance when and where the light is right – for landscape, astro, macro and every other kind of photography. NEXT PHOTO MOMENT WITH COUNTDOWN See instantly how long until the next golden or blue hour. As a Home Screen and Lock Screen widget, the countdown is always in view – no need to open the app. SUN, MOON & WEATHER FOR YOUR LOCATION • Sunrise and sunset, golden and blue hour (morning and evening) • Moon phase with illumination, moonrise and moonset, plus a countdown to the next full moon and new moon • Ten photography-relevant weather conditions: golden clouds, afterglow, rain/snow/sleet, thunderstorms, fog, temperature, clear sky, wind, Milky Way and northern lights • 24-hour trend for every condition: tap its name to see how probability, temperature or wind develop over the day • Temperature and wind for your chosen forecast time – plus the current values • Live rain radar on an Apple Map, zoomable and centered on your location COMPASS FOR SUN AND MOON For sunrise and sunset as well as moonrise and moonset, a live compass shows the exact direction. It works like Apple's compass: the dial turns with your iPhone, sun and moon appear in their real direction, and the symbol turns green as soon as you point right at it. Tap to enlarge it with degrees and your current heading – ideal for lining up tripod and camera in advance. WIND FOR THE OUTDOORS AND ON THE WATER Wind speed in km/h and Beaufort, wind direction and gusts – in the 24-hour chart with a Beaufort scale and direction arrows. Handy for long exposures, drone flights and water sports. NEVER MISS THE MOMENT AGAIN Reminders for fixed photo moments (golden/blue hour, sunrise/sunset) with a lead time you choose – plus weather reminders that notify you when a condition becomes likely at your location. The reminder time is when the notification is sent: with a 7:00 AM forecast time and a 6:00 AM reminder time, you'll be notified at 6:00 AM if fog is likely at 7:00 AM. Everything runs locally on your device, with no account and no email required. FAVORITES Save your favorite spots along with all their settings under a name. On the home screen, switch between them with a swipe or a quick-pick list, reorder them by dragging and tag them with your own colors. If you like, you can get the reminders of all favorites at once. PHOTO TIPS For every weather condition, you'll find detailed, expandable tips for better shots. Photographer's Weather is trilingual (German/English/Spanish, automatically follows your system language), optimized for iPhone and iPad, and respects your privacy: no ads, no tracking, no account required.

What’s new

Version 1.5.2 · Updated October 28, 2026

The 24-hour chart now labels the best moments with time and probability; the best one is highlighted with a red dashed line. Location and forecast time stay pinned at the top while you scroll, together with the bell – and the app icon shows how many reminders are currently active. An edited favourite takes effect on the home screen right away.
