Tanning & Sun Timer: Shade

Tanning today? Shade times your sunbathing session around your estimated burn time, then nudges you to turn over, reapply, or call it a day. Shade combines the live UV index for your location with your Fitzpatrick skin type to estimate how long you can stay in the sun before your skin starts to burn, then counts it down for you. WHAT YOU GET • Live UV index — current and hour-by-hour for where you are, from Apple Weather • Personal burn-time estimate — your skin type and SPF, not a generic number • Session timer — start it when you lie down, get a nudge before your estimated limit • Sunscreen reminders — wearing sunscreen? Get a reapply reminder every 2 hours, as WHO recommends • Today at a glance — UV curve, sunrise and sunset, cloud cover • Home screen widgets — current UV, your burn-time estimate, the day's UV curve and sun window • Apple Watch app — current UV and a running session countdown on your wrist MADE FOR TANNING DAYS Beach, pool, park or balcony: Shade keeps time while you tan, with turn-over and reapply cues and a countdown to your estimated burn time. It won't help you tan faster, and it doesn't try to. It estimates when your skin has likely had enough, so you don't have to guess. SHADE PLUS Free: the live UV index, your burn-time estimate, widgets, and your first sun session with everything included, so you can try it properly. Shade Plus adds: • Unlimited sun sessions • Lock Screen and Dynamic Island countdown (Live Activity) • Session controls on Apple Watch • Turn-over and reapply cues during a session • Morning UV alerts and a daily UV summary • Session history, exposure trends and vitamin D estimates • Apple Health sync, a customizable Today screen, alternate icons Shade Plus is an auto-renewing subscription, billed monthly or yearly. Burn-time estimates follow WHO UV Index public guidance and standard Fitzpatrick minimal erythemal dose values, shown as ranges because skin, altitude, reflection and medication all shift the real answer. Shade is an informational tool, not a medical device, and it can't promise you won't burn. It doesn't diagnose, treat or prevent anything. For any concern about your skin, talk to a dermatologist. Your location is used to fetch UV data and never leaves your device except as a coordinate sent to Apple Weather. There is no account and no sign-up.
