About drft: Interrupt the Urge

drft is for the ten minutes before a decision you would regret. Open it when the urge hits. drft does not lecture you, score you, or ask how you are feeling on a scale of one to ten. It tells you what has actually happened the last time you were here. "This is the 10th time. You got through it 6 of those times. What held most often: walking. It usually passed in about 21 minutes." That sentence is the whole product. It is not advice, and it is not encouragement. It is your own record, handed back at the moment it is useful. WHAT YOU CAN CHANGE Gambling, alcohol, nicotine, pornography, and social media. You can also name something drft does not list. Setup asks eight questions: one in your own words, seven you tap. They are drawn from the screening literature for the behaviour you actually picked, so the questions about nicotine are about nicotine. Three minutes, and the rest of the app is built from your answers. WHAT IT DOES Interrupt. One tap when the pull starts. drft puts something between the urge and the action: a timed walk, a breathing reset, a call to someone you trust. It logs what you chose and whether it held, so next time it can lead with the one that works for you. Remember. Every urge, action and outcome becomes part of a record only you can see. Over time drft can tell you which trigger keeps coming up, which hour of which day is hardest, and which intervention has the best record for you specifically. Your plan. A short daily structure built from your own history rather than a template. If drft does not know enough yet, the plan is shorter. It does not pad. Coach. A conversation that starts from your record rather than from nothing. It quotes your real numbers. WHAT IT WILL NOT DO drft will not tell you that you are strong, or that you have got this, or that your future self is proud of you. It has no way to know any of that. It will not draw a pattern from three events. Every insight has a threshold, and below it drft shows nothing rather than something it cannot stand behind. It will not punish a slip. Your total clean days bank across setbacks and never reset to zero, because a lapse is information, not an identity. There are no streaks to protect. A streak turns a bad night into a reason to stop opening the app, which is exactly when you need it. It does not sell your data, share it, or use advertising SDKs. HONEST ABOUT WHAT IT IS drft is not a therapist, not a doctor and not an emergency service. It offers no diagnosis and no treatment. If you are in crisis, call or text 988 in the US. One thing worth saying plainly: if you drink heavily every day, stopping suddenly can be dangerous. That is a conversation for a doctor before it is a conversation for an app, and drft will tell you so. Free, with no subscription.
