About Tattvam: Ancient Indian Wisdom
Who am I? Why do we suffer? What should I do? Tattvam presents 50 enduring questions through cited passages, editorial summaries, and contrasting philosophical traditions. Each question is organized into seven sections so you can read the evidence, see the context, compare the disagreements, and form your own view. EXPLORE SEVEN SECTIONS • A concise introduction to the question • Source excerpts with citations and original scripts where available • Key terms and their meanings • Historical and philosophical context • Comparisons across traditions • Tensions and disagreements • A private reflection prompt READ AND PRACTISE • Browse a bundled library of twenty source editions • Bookmark passages and keep a private journal • Test your recall with timed quizzes • Build reading streaks, Wisdom XP, badges, and quote collections • Share a question or passage using a generated image card GUEST-FIRST AND PRIVATE The core reading, journal, progress, and quiz experience works without an account and remains available offline after installation. Your journal, bookmarks, and lesson progress stay on this device and do not sync to another device. Sign in with Apple only if you want the weekly leaderboard or to share and read community reflections. Community content requires a network connection and includes report and block controls. There are no ads and no cross-app tracking. You can export your data or erase local data in the app. Signed-in users can permanently delete their account and associated server data in the app. Interface controls are available in English and Hindi. Lesson and editorial content is in English; source material may also appear in Sanskrit, Pali, Prakrit, or Tamil.
What’s new
Version 1.0.3 · Updated October 16, 2026
EIGHT NEW BOOKS, TWENTY IN ALL — the Sutta Nipāta, the Theragāthā and Therīgāthā (verses of early Buddhist monks and nuns), the Chāndogya Upaniṣad, Bhartṛhari's Nīti Śataka, the Jain Uttarādhyayana Sūtra, the Cāṇakya Nīti and the Vidura Nīti — each in its original language beside a public-domain English translation. Verses that reflect the social views of their time carry a short, labelled note on their context. Each theme now shows where to read about it in the editions, and the home-screen widget can show any of the twenty books. A NEW CATALOGUE — the library's 154 texts are grouped under four traditions (Hindu, Buddhist, Jain, and Literary & Other) in thirteen categories. Each category opens with a short card on what its texts are and the question they ask; most also link to lessons and name where to start. A map shows how the Vedas, Brāhmaṇas, Āraṇyakas and Upaniṣads relate. Catalogue source links open in your browser. A REBUILT QUIZ — shorter answer options and new kinds of question: finish the verse, recall a term, match an etymology. Right and wrong are now shown in words and icons as well as colour. ONE TYPEFACE — the system font throughout, so every screen reads the same. VERSE OF THE DAY — every verse on the Today card is now one that stands on its own: short, in plain English, and clear without the verse before it.
