About ArchSpy

ArchSpy — the story behind the buildings around you. Ever walked past an old building and wondered what it was, who built it, or why it looks the way it does? Point your phone and find out. ArchSpy uses augmented reality to reveal the history and architecture of the buildings around you — names, dates, architects, styles, and the stories behind them. ArchSpy works anywhere — point it at a building and it tells you what the world's open records know. Local and national archives go deeper in Portland, San Francisco, and Chicago, across the United States through the National Register of Historic Places, and in England, Ireland, and Australia. Every fact is credited to the record it came from. FREE TO EXPLORE • Point your camera to identify nearby buildings in AR • See the key facts: year built, architect, style, and a short history • Discover the architecture you walk past every day GO DEEPER WITH KEYSTONE • The full history of every building — complete architectural descriptions and the people, events, and stories behind them • Offline access for walking and travel • A log of the buildings you've visited Built by an independent developer who loves old buildings. What’s new

Version 1.1.0 · Updated October 11, 2026

• A new look for busy streets. Each building now gets a single tag showing its name and distance. Where there are many buildings, ArchSpy groups them in rings, nearest first. Slide along the bar at the bottom to see farther. Tap a marker to bring it forward with its full name. • See what Pro unlocks before you buy. The upgrade screen now shows three real buildings. Tap one to explore its full card. • Know where you're looking. Every building card now says how far away the building is and in which direction, such as "120 m NE of you", and it updates as you walk. • Something to find, even off the beaten path. If there's nothing notable nearby, ArchSpy now points you to the nearest building worth seeing, with its distance, direction and town, even when it's a drive away. Tap it to open its card. • Distances that line up. Marker distances now use one consistent style, so you can compare them at a glance. • Better battery life. The camera pauses while a card, the menu or a photo fills the screen. • Steadier directions. Routes update with every location fix and move on to the next step even if you take a turn wide. If you stray off the route, ArchSpy tells you to follow the arrow. • Simpler settings. Only Walking distance and Marker size remain. • ArchSpy now stays in portrait orientation. • Fixed: "Show more" now appears whenever a building's history is cut off. • Updated wording in the Support ArchSpy tip jar.
