About PAIR: Food & Flavor Pairing

PAIR is an encyclopedia of food and drink, and an engine that works out what goes with what. Put ingredients on a plate and PAIR draws the web between them, scoring every link on the aroma compounds they actually share. Point it at a dish and it ranks the wines, beers and cocktails against it, and tells you why. The scoring is deterministic and runs on your device — a documented heuristic over our own aroma and taste data, not a chatbot guessing. 1,771 ingredient pages and 747 beverage pages, every one written for this app and cited. FREE, AND NO ACCOUNT NEEDED Every ingredient and beverage page opens without an account: · What it is, where it came from, and how it got to a kitchen · Calories, protein, carbohydrate and fat · How it tastes — ripeness, preparation, taste and texture · Its varieties, where it has them — 27 kinds of apple, the grape behind a region And on fresh produce: · How to pick a good one, how to store it, and how long it keeps · When it is in season, and where No sign-up, no trial clock, and nothing expires. PAIR+ SUBSCRIPTION REQUIRED These features are locked and need a paid subscription: · Pairings — what an ingredient goes with, scored, with the shared aroma chemistry behind every match · The full aroma wheel and flavour analysis · Deep nutrition — vitamins, minerals, amino acids and the fibre breakdown · The plate builder — combine ingredients and score the whole plate · Drink rankings — wine, beer, cocktails and zero-proof against your dish · Menu scanning — photograph a restaurant menu and get a pairing for each dish · Recipe scanning — photograph a recipe and pull its ingredients in · The wine cellar · Side-by-side compare · The in-season map for your region · Modernist technique data — dosage, temperature, pH and stability for hydrocolloids, starches and salts SUBSCRIPTION OPTIONS PAIR+ — $8.99 per month, or $70.00 per year 15 menu scans and 15 recipe scans a month. PAIR Pro — $18.99 per month, or $150.00 per year Unlimited menu scans and 100 recipe scans a month. The two paid tiers unlock the same features; they differ only in how many photo scans a month you get. Prices are shown in your own currency at purchase. Payment is charged to your Apple Account on confirmation. Subscriptions renew automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the period ends, and you can manage or cancel in your Apple Account settings. WHO IT IS FOR Home cooks who want to know why something works. Professional kitchens building a menu. Anyone standing in front of a wine shelf with a dish already in mind. Sommeliers, recipe developers, and people who read cookbooks for pleasure. WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT Pairing advice is usually folklore, or a short list at the back of a book. PAIR computes it from the ingredients' own aroma and taste data and shows its reasoning, so you can disagree with it. Everything is authored. No scraped text, no generated filler, and sources on every page. Terms of Use: https://app.pair.support/terms Privacy Policy: https://app.pair.support/privacy

What’s new

Version 1.06 · Updated October 17, 2026

Ripeness has been added to more ingredients. • 29 more fruits can now be set from underripe to overripe, including watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew, blueberry, raspberry, blackberry, cherry, grape, pineapple, pomegranate, guava, mangosteen and dragon fruit. • On each of these fruits' pages, drag the picking guide from underripe to overripe and the fruit's picture changes colour. Thirteen guides, including raspberry, grape and pomegranate, were rewritten to run that way. • With PAIR+, a fruit's ripeness now changes your plate's score, in the builder and on your saved recipes, and what the builder suggests. Before, it changed only the nutrition. • With PAIR+, drink pairings follow ripeness too: a green mango leans to crisp whites and teas, a very ripe one to ice wine and apricot brandy. Bug and info fixes • Fixes on a few fruit pages: how durian is harvested and how long it takes to ripen at home, the order a blackberry changes colour, and that a nectarine softens on the counter but gets no sweeter. Also corrected: the sugar breakdown for guava, raspberry, cherry and blueberry.
