About Carol: Knitting and Crochet

Carol converts knitting patterns to your gauge and stays with you until the very last round. YOUR PATTERN IN YOUR YARN You found a beautiful pattern, but your yarn is thicker, your gauge is different or the size doesn't fit. Carol recalculates every number from the real measurement, rounds to whole pattern repeats and shows you honestly how big the difference is. No guessing and no scraps of paper. WHAT CAROL CAN DO Carol adapts a pattern to your gauge in six guided steps. Carol plans a raglan sweater knitted from the top down, written out round by round with increases, dividing, body and sleeves all the way to the ribbing. Carol plans socks and hats with cast on, heel, gusset, toe and crown matched to your gauge and size. Knitting mode has a large round counter, reminders on exactly the right round and check measurements that tell you when to try the piece on. Saved gauge swatches are available in every calculator. Designers create patterns directly in Carol and share the pattern files through their own channels. Loading a pattern into Carol is free. All your data can be exported in an open file format and restored at any time. ON IPHONE AND IPAD If you like, Carol syncs your projects between iPhone and iPad through your private iCloud. You count rounds on one device and keep knitting on the other. On iPad the project sits next to the list and the pattern next to the counter, and you can also open a project in its own window. Draw on your pattern with Apple Pencil. KNIT TOGETHER With SharePlay you can knit together with others, in a call over FaceTime or at the same table. Everyone knits their own project and sees how far along the others are. Your patterns and photos stay with you. YOUR PATTERN STEP BY STEP Carol turns your pattern, as a PDF or photo, into steps on your device. In Knitting Mode, the step for the current round sits below the counter and moves along with every round. “What does this mean?” explains the abbreviations in a step. APPLE INTELLIGENCE ON YOUR DEVICE Some features use Apple Intelligence, the language model from Apple on your device (Foundation Models). Carol uses it to explain a step in one sentence and to read the label of a yarn for your stash. In the statistics, Carol sums up your notes. Everything runs on your device, nothing goes to a server. The explanations can be wrong, and if in doubt your pattern applies. Without Apple Intelligence, Carol keeps working. APPLE WATCH AND APPLE TV On Apple Watch you count with a tap or a double tap, and the watch taps you when a reminder is due. On Apple TV you see your round in large type from the sofa and count with the Siri Remote. A GIFT TO GET YOU STARTED As a welcome gift, Carol Pro is free for you right now. Later, Carol Pro will be a single purchase with no subscription. You pay exactly once. Nothing expires and nothing renews. KNITTED WITH LOVE IN DENMARK Carol calculates transparently and always shows you where a number comes from. It was born from a real knitting problem, a favorite sweater that needed to be knitted again in thicker yarn.

What’s new

Version 1.6 · Updated October 5, 2026

Carol now knits along without you having to look. Say a word like “next” and Carol adds a round. Or give one relaxed nod towards the front camera. When an increase round is due, Carol reads it to you. The first time, Carol explains everything in a few steps. The widgets have a new design. You choose which project they show and see the next instructions. On Apple TV, a piece of knitting grows with every round. Plus many small improvements.
