About Yakker: Walkie-Talkie

Walkie-Talkie GA turns your iPhone into a classic push-to-talk radio. Hold the button, talk, and let go — your voice is sent instantly to any friend who has the app. It's the simple, spontaneous way to stay in touch, without the back-and-forth of texting or the commitment of a phone call. FEELS LIKE THE REAL THING A hand-built radio interface — speaker grille, channel display, indicator LEDs, and a big push-to-talk button — with satisfying roger beeps and haptics every time you key up. HOW IT WORKS • Hold to talk, release to send • Plays instantly when your friend has the app open • Waits as a notification when they're away • Switch between the loud speaker and the earpiece • Every transmission is saved so you can replay it FIND YOUR FRIENDS AUTOMATICALLY Sign up with your phone number and Walkie-Talkie GA shows you which of your contacts already have the app. Only scrambled (hashed) phone numbers ever leave your device — we never store your contacts. PRIVATE BY DESIGN No ads. No tracking. Your voice clips are sent securely and deleted from our servers after they're delivered. Grab a friend, pick a channel, and start talking. Over and out.

What’s new

Version 1.1 · Updated October 12, 2026

Yakker 1.1 — peace and quiet, on your terms. QUIET HOURS Set a start time, an end time and the days you want them, and Yakker goes silent. Incoming yaks stop playing by themselves, stop beeping and stop buzzing — and the notification arrives without a sound, even when the app is closed. Nothing is lost: every clip is saved, still shows up in your log with its unplayed dot, and plays the moment you tap it. You can still talk out whenever you like. Windows can run overnight too, so 10pm to 7am works exactly how you'd expect. There's a little moon on the channel display whenever quiet hours are on, so you always know. MUTE A FRIEND OR A GROUP Got one chatty group or one friend who yaks at 2am? Press and hold their channel and tap Mute — or swipe a group in the Groups list. Muted channels never send you a notification and never play out loud, but their clips still land in your log so you can catch up on your own schedule. Muting isn't blocking: they're never told, and they can still reach you whenever you unmute. Mute a friend and they stay quiet inside your shared groups too. Both settings follow your account, so they're the same on every device you sign in to. ALSO IN THIS RELEASE - Your unplayed clips are never cleaned up on the server any more. If you haven't listened to it yet, it waits for you however long that takes. - Tidier channel display on smaller iPhones. Thanks for yakking. Questions or ideas — [email protected]
