About Sakura Tutor
Learn to actually SPEAK Japanese — not just memorize words. Sakura Sensei is an AI Japanese teacher that helps you build real speaking confidence through natural conversation. No more silent learning. Start speaking from day one. HOW IT WORKS: • AI Conversation Practice — Talk to Sakura like a real teacher. Ask in English, learn to say it in Japanese, and get instant feedback. • Pronunciation Scoring — Record your voice and get scored on accuracy. The AI analyzes your pronunciation and tells you exactly what to improve. • Grammar Corrections — Real-time feedback on particles, verb conjugation, and keigo (honorifics). Sakura explains mistakes in clear English. • Kana & Writing Practice — Master hiragana and katakana with interactive grid, stroke-by-stroke writing practice, and quizzes. • JLPT Level System — Start at N5 and progress through N4, N3, N2, and N1. Every lesson adapts to your level. • Audio Playback — Hear every phrase pronounced by a native Japanese speaker (Microsoft Nanami voice). • Free Daily Lessons — Practice 5 conversations per day free. Upgrade to Pro for unlimited access. WHY LEARNERS LOVE IT: "Finally an app that actually teaches me to speak, not just tap flashcards" "It's like having a Japanese tutor in my pocket" "The pronunciation feedback is incredible — it caught my 'r' sound immediately" Whether you're planning a trip to Tokyo, studying for the JLPT, or just love Japanese culture — Sakura Sensei gets you speaking real Japanese. What’s new
Version 1.3.0 · Updated September 5, 2026
Brand-new sign-in experience. A full login flow now lives at launch: create an account with Apple, Google, or email to sync your progress across devices, or tap "Continue without an account" to explore first and upgrade later. Your existing data syncs to the cloud automatically. VoiceOver accessibility. Every kana tile, pronunciation button, recording control, and mode toggle now reads clearly to VoiceOver users. Color contrast passes WCAG AA across the entire app. System-wide Dynamic Type. Body and label text scales gracefully with the system font setting (clamped to a 1.0–1.3× range), and readability holds in bright sunlight. Safer subscription flow. Choosing a plan and confirming the purchase are now two separate steps — the Subscribe button stays disabled until a plan is selected, so accidental purchases are no longer possible. Splash screen bug fix. Returning users are no longer bounced back to the sign-in screen on launch.
