EcoRoot: Learn. Grow. Connect.

EcoRoot is your field guide to the native plants of the U.S. Gulf South — a single place to identify them, learn how to grow them, and discover their history, ecology, and traditional uses. Built for gardeners, plant lovers, and aspiring herbalists who want more than a name. IDENTIFY BY PHOTO OR BY TRAITS Point your camera at a plant and EcoRoot names it, with an honest confidence score and the close look-alikes worth ruling out. Your photo is read once for that identification — it is never stored on your device or our servers, and never used for anything else. Prefer to work it out yourself? The guided key asks a few simple questions about leaf, flower, form, and habitat and narrows to the best match the botanical way. Both routes open the same herbarium sheet. A BUNDLED FIELD ALMANAC Browse a hand-built library of Gulf South native plants. Each opens as a mounted herbarium sheet: growing conditions, ecological and pollinator value, native status, and evidence-tiered notes on historical, cultural, and traditional uses — clearly sourced. YOUR LIVING HERBARIUM Save the plants you find and grow, track your garden's biodiversity and pollinator value, and watch your identifying eye sharpen over time. LEARN & EARN Work through lessons on native plants and herbalism and complete stewardship quests — the Pollinator Quest, the Native Garden Quest, the Herbal Apprentice — to earn badges. FULL SAFETY, ALWAYS FREE Every plant's toxicity to people, dogs, and cats is always shown for free, with Poison Control and ASPCA numbers. CULTIVATOR (optional subscription) Go deeper with the complete cultural, historical, and traditional-use profiles, advanced multi-trait filters, every lesson and quest, a seasonal care planner, and full garden analytics. - Monthly ($4.99) or annual ($29.99), with a 7-day free trial - Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation; the subscription auto-renews unless canceled at least 24 hours before the period ends; manage or cancel anytime in your App Store account settings.
